Wait a minute. I thought you said Spiegel got screwed because 3 of his 4 shows were doing well in the ratings?

Was that the name of the hooker on their party boat?

Where have I said differently? (This is an argument you're going to pick/win, BRick, just let this silly line of reasoning from you die now)

1)"Half of the "good" shows listed above didn't last more than two years"
2)"the train wreck that was Spiegel & Mannelley cancels out the success of either Spiegel & Goff or Spiegel & Parkins."

So, Spiegel's shows mostly lasted around 2 years, and the train wreck of Spiegel and Mannelly cancels out the success of Spiegel and Parkins.

That means that Spiegel was only screwed by getting removed if Spiegel and Goff was worthy of being retained, which then puts Goff in the same discussion on "getting screwed" except Spiegel is still employed while Goff was sent packing.

1. Yes, I put "good" in quotes to mean the "good decisions" attributable to Mitch. If I just said "half the shows" it wouldn't make any sense. S&G and S&P were good shows.

2. Yes...from Mitch's perspective you junior high debate team reject.

I found the statements he made at the very end intriguing.

Sounds like he has some options outside of Chicago that he does not really want to take.

There are things in the city he is "supposed" to be waiting on.

And it took him away once before and sometimes you have to learn that things aren't for you and that has always been hardheaded.

I don't listen to Sir all that much when it takes no more work than flipping a switch. That podcast must draw flies.

If Goff had just created a political podcast and left his sports thoughts on the Score he wouldn't have his problems

Goff said he's waiting on Chicago radio options. ESPN 1000....that's no way. Maybe he could be on the Trump basher Steve Cochran's show at wgn? That would be crazy.

As much as I dislike Jason Goff I don't take any pleasure in his self inflicted pain. It's obvious the man's hurting. This could have all been avoided by while he was at the score touching on current sjw issues for a couple minutes ,but focus on sports the majority of the time. But, he did the opposite.
Also taking pot shots at Terry's b&g critiques of hanging on one subject too long was a low blow to a sick man. He should have let it go.
Soon Goff will leave Chicago working for a forth of his score salary and be a faded memory.

I just started listening to this. Man, Goff sounds devastated, just awful. I feel really bad for him.

I find it really hard to believe that Goff was never talked to about management about any of this stuff before it happened

I want to feel sympathy for Goff, but his attitude when he was on air just doesn't allow me to do so.

yeah he does sound genuine. Just seems strange to me.

I hope that is right because the last thing he needs is to be found out he is exaggerating things to gain sympathy. He has looked bad enough in the aftermath of this ordeal.

It's not just the sjw crap, it was his constant babbling and rambling about mundane stuff.. His clapping, laughing and over talking made an awful radio host.

There's a bit of that for me too. And he on the SJW trip big time, which reduces his appeal to me.

He's the same guy who said that Gar Forman was about to be fired, black players were going to boycott the NFL, and that he was let go in Atlanta only over salsa. I find it hard to believe that he was not talked to. I believe he was asked to stay home one day for his rant against caller Clark.

Of course if Bernstein had been relegated years ago, we'd all (except Brick) have been better off.

Goff was talking about how he doesn't want to be the reason other black hosts won't get a shot in the business, because "how many people have you told that if you talk about something that's important to you....", just completely refusing to take ownership of his programming and demeanor as a host—people owed him listenership because he cared about SJW issues and berating people with his luxury car lease?

Also, he said right after that "because we [Bernstein & Goff] were successful, with a lot of head winds in our face."

YOU PISSED AWAY THE IN-DEMO RATINGS LEAD GIFTED TO YOU BY BOERS & BERNSTEIN. YOU DIDN'T WIN ANYTHING. YOU LOST.

Speaking of Senor, I don't remember whether it was in the first half or the second half of the interview, but the topic of driving a show came up, and how Laurence likes to go with the flow when he fills in, but Hood told Jason at a party that he's meant to be a solo host and I guess he hung on to that advice. On the first day of B&G, Dan asked Jason who would be driving, and Jason, knowing that Dan only went through the ceremony of asking as a professional courtesy, said "oh, you'd better do it, you've been here longer," to which Dan said "yeah, but this is great, because it's going to be like running a two-point-guard offense!", but Jason "1" Goff knew what was really meant to be.

Some people simply never grow up. That is Goff. Have seen 100 of them in the business world. They are never gonna change, always blame someone else, and always end up failing.

How Ironic Dan and Jason told all to turn off the radio if they didn't like the content (thinking they could pull the Howard Stern affect), thus didn't realize they have 1/10th of Sterns audience or talent in the 80s, he was an FM "SHOCK JOCK," not in a sports market in the middle of the midwest.

Now one is unemployed and the other got demoted. Who could have seen that coming

I definitely recommend you guys listen to the whole thing. It moves quick and gives a lot of insight into Goff's struggles. It's heart felt and a therapy session. Not sure what to think about the whole thing.

He's a narcissist justifying his own behavior to himself and casting off all blame for what has happened to him via an enabler. End of story.

It's important to remember that for the bad breaks Jason has had in his career (a hostile PD in Atlanta gunning for him, an old AM1000 guy tearing up the lineup to get Mac back in), he has also had remarkable fortune in failing up. There aren't a lot of people in this business who go from evenings in Atlanta to middays in Chicago because something went wrong. There aren't a lot of people who get internships after they quit broadcasting school.
