If a 25 year old girl who happened to work as a teacher met a random 17 or 18 year old at a party and fucked him, you wouldn't even think twice about it. I doubt anybody would.

I don't think any 24, 25, 26 year old who sleeps with a 17 year old is a predator regardless of gender. I do not think its a wise move on the older person's part, but I don't automatically view them as a predator either.

Why is 17 your cutoff? Why not 15? Why not anyone of high school age? Can you easily differentiate a freshman from a senior in HS?

It could be a kid who just turned 18 and knocks up his girlfriend of two years who is 15. Is he a danger and a "predator"?

All I'm saying is that there are different situations and when I hear a story like this, I don't automatically assume that the teacher is a predator.

I would also venture to say that the vast majority (if not all) of the male students do not consider the teacher a predator and are either sorry her life was ruined or in many cases the boy actually blackmailed her (give me good grades or I’ll tell), thereby making him the predator.

When a person takes a job at a school they should understand that a relationship of any sexual form with any student no matter their age is completely off limits. Calling someone a predator maybe a little harsh, but they should have understood the situation they are dealing with when they accepted the job.

But do we really know that she was abusing her power? She might have been, but it could have been random thing where they ran into eachother.

As I stated earlier, clearly Sprinkles made MANY dumb decisions, but she might not be a predator. Its possible she is mentally ill and this isn't her first rodeo, but its also possible that this was just a mistake and a bunch of dumb choices on her part.

But position of power is probably irrelevant in most of these cases. If the teacher was actually forcing sex under threat of poor grades, I’d say it was abuse. But I’d bet in most of these cases the male student is a very willing participant, not just because of the sex but he might also feel it gives HIM power to hold over her.

This probably has happened on almost every co-ed campus in the country. Sometimes it might be predatory. Other times it might be two consenting adults having fun.
