Solid analysis. I agree on all counts.

Goff was not in a mind yet to listen to reality, not that Holmes would give it to him. I don't blame him. The man is clearly grieving and hasn't reached the proper stage yet. I feel bad for him. It sounded like he was choking back tears from beginning to end. He's despondent.

Who told Jason that he was fired for speaking about social issues too much? That seems to have crept into consciousness without ever being sourced. Here is my take as a guy who likes Jason's work: You were fired not for talking about Colin Kaepernick kneeling on Friday but for telling me you loathed talking to me on Bears Monday. That, right there, is as close as you can get to a sin for a sports talker in the city of Chicago. You and Bernstein were living on borrowed time with that act.

Jason clearly has a rift with Bernstein. He was throwing some veiled but strong accusations about his professionalism. He also insinuates he has held those thoughts for much longer than simply when they hosted together. You would think Jason hosted that show by himself from this discussion if you didn't know he was on with Bernstein.

Jason has a huge ego so I don't know if he has the ability to learn from this experience. I hope he does. The handful of sycophants who are propping him up on Twitter are doing him no favors.

Nice analysis, GD. Very well said and spot on.

Ya know, I know Goff hates us. But if he would listen, the advice we give him is far better than the advice he gets from his SCORE friends. Especially Larry. All they tell him is that he's great. He doesn't need to hear that. Good friends don't tell you that all the time.

Like you said, GD, Goff has an ego the size of Spiegel. And he's proud and stubborn. So he won't listen to anybody.

The Score has never really been "about" anything, but if it can be said to have any overarching mission statement, I guess it would be a place for fans to call in and talk about sports. I wonder if the only Score these people know is the three years where Jason was a daily host. If anything isn't "what the Score is all about," it's telling callers not to come back.

I figured out why Goff has decided to hate Bernstein. I found it odd from the moment Goff started blaming Bernstein after being fired. You have to think like Goff to figure this out. He's kind of nuts.

Goff never loved Spiegel. In fact, he's always hated Spiegel. Goff has always idolized and loved Bernstein. We all know this.

But when Goff got fired and Bernstein didn't, that hurt Goff. Because all he did was follow his radio dad. It's like the scene at the end of "A few good men" where the Iowa kid said "What did we do wrong, we just followed orders.

That's all Goff was doing. Following the lead of his mentor.

So when he got shit canned and his master didn't, he was crushed. Goff would have accepted this better if it was both him and Bernstein that got it. He didn't understand why his teacher got to survive and not him.

So he's now creating this narrative where he wanted to stay with Spiegel and that Bernstein wasn't prepared for shows.

Which is bullshit. Goff loved Bernstein the day before he got fired (Hell, he loved Dan more than his lady). Now he doesn't. Goff hated Spiegel the day before he got fired. Now he claims to love him.

It's just not true. But Goff is going through a crisis right now so he's decided to put this out there for everybody. I think it helps him feel better about things. He's confused, angry, sad, bitter and hysterical right now.

I can't believe anyone's taking that midday crap at face value but there are also people who believe Laurence wouldn't move up from his often-preempted evening show because then it would be harder to teach at DePaul.

And the money thing.

I'm guessing Spiegel got the same voided contract that Goff got. Because Spiegel was off the air for 30 days as well. Only he agreed to work part time after the 30 days. So he gets paid like all of the other part timers at the SCORE. Paid per shift. Spiegel has his band. So I'm sure he's doing more shows now.

Why is Goff shocked/angry about this? He expected a company to pay him a lot of money just to be nice when they weren't obligated to do so? Yeah, that's the way things work, Goff. This was in the contract for a reason. It was a built in severance to get the SCORE off the hook. Goff didn't know or never thought it would come to this. I'm guessing he didn't know. I'm guessing he didn't know until day 30 when the SCORE told him.

"what the score is about..."

theres been too much 'low talking' and 'be real' moments over the past 5 years. From Penn State, to Holmes "keeping it real for us" and talking how embarrassed he was in the station after danny went full boner and talked about Cristal's rack. Then, cycle into BLM, Julie DiCaro, and the rest of the SJW transition nationwide. having seen before that any time someone is offended or someone feels righteous, they always bring it to their sweet platform of drive time and blast us with that garbage. The bears sucked, so did the sox, the cubs were still rebuilding and beginning to show it was working, they never care about hockey (except, bank the Kane shit with the previously mentioned low talk and screeching SJW). The air time was ripe for self indulgent ass-flattery and "if you don't like it..." bullshit.

Fuck Goff. The show was bad and he was part of the problem. Blindly casting aspersions on fans of This or That and "THERE IT IS" or subtly suggesting hes trying to out certain athletes with his "Hyuh huh, aint saying I'm just sayin" garbage. or, not to mention insinuating that any white person who doesn't agree with him 100% is a racist...yeah dude, fuck you.

Nah, bruh metrics. Get fucked.

as far as that part of the conversation goes I also don't believe that Mitch sat in his living room begging him to come back to the station nor do I believe Sirius was paying him 50K more than the Score offer. I do believe the Score offer was low but there is no way he was pulling in six figures for some nondescript work as a national host

been saying this all along

Bernstein is niche radio. They made him the face of the station. It's like a punk band that goes mainstream and allows its work to be used for car commercials

Bernstein only worked with Boers. It was a perfect pairing.

Not sure. Goff claims that he has had multiple offers in other cities to start working right now. But he said he doesn't want to leave his baby (Never mentioned caring about leaving the lady).

So Goff said he's hoping for something to break for him in Chicago. Which pretty much means he's hoping ESPN 1000 hires him. Cuz he's not going to any other radio spot in this city. He claims that he's had meetings with ESPN 1000. But Goff said he's worried that when they go behind closed doors the ESPN 1000 management will say "All he wants to talk about is race". Goff thinks that's the word on the street about him. And he hates that he has to defend himself against this.

So ESPN has heard his past shows. That is one of the main topics he did talk about.
I'm sure he has lots of offers out of town .
