Those 30 second shifts in hockey are quite taxing.

That's correct. If they weren't, they would be longer.

Just slightly more taxing than standing in right field scratching one's balls on a hot August afternoon.

I enjoy watching soccer because of the creativity and improvisation. Also, no commercial timeouts. Soccer’s not for everybody though and I get that. Not really understanding all the posts about flopping. Does it happen? Yes. Is the whistle blown? No. The whistle is seldom blown during a match. The same cannot be said in the NBA and pass interference calls in the NFL.

From what I saw play stopped every couple minutes when someone flopped. The clock might not stop, but play sure seemed to. Maybe that one game I saw had an inordinate amount of flopping so my opinion may be skewed.

my first soccer game was world cup 1994 and it was fantastic.

followed team usa only in the world cup since then.

but now w/ no team usa, i could really care less. i'll tune in maybe for some good matches and i'll root for mexico this year, but those games are in the middle of the night here and i'm usually working.

i got into the EPL that year the NFL went on strike or threatened to. but haven't followed it in like the last 2-3 years. it was just a short fling.

Those spanish leauges like barcelona and real madrid forget about it. if they don't broadcast in english I'm out.

Which is ironic because I love watching soccer w/ mexican spanish annoucers like on telemundo or univision. i have no clue what they're saying but the way they annouce you can feel the passion and excitement in their voices. and the long winded GOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL call iv'e always liked. beats that vanilla bullshit ESPN/FOX announcing.

i also like games are only 90 min long tv time.

I get sucked in every four years. The flopping is definitely ridiculous at times, but really not much worse than the NBA, which I also enjoy. It’s the most aesthetically-pleasing game to watch at the professional level.

Worth noting that the football player in HS who loved to refer to us as “soccer fags” eventually came out shortly after we graduated. He still works at Pizza Hut, too. Nobody buttfucks like the Hut, I guess?

Whoa, bro, are you talking about Matt Sykes? Fuck brah, I remember during gym if we were in the locker room he was always keepin' his eyes low. And he'd always say shit about Trev's boys. Like he'd call him "Package". Like, "Yo, Package, hand me the soap" and shit. Glad Trev would pretend to be deaf and shit. We'd always say he had Swimmer's Ear and shit. Haha, that's hilar if that's true. Pizza Slut's the worst too. Their breadsticks are okay I guess. Matty Sykes sure likes them for realsies!

soccer flopping is in it's own league. No American sport even comes close. It's borderline cheating in soccer.

I'm sure you're as disappointed as I am that they didn't let Bjork design their uniforms.

If their uniforms looks like this, I might watch a soccer game;

If Ronaldo wore a dress you’d be more likely to watch?

To each their own.

Fuck golf.

hear hear! for all of the bearded new balance rocking bike riders who wanna guilt trip you into liking the MLS, i figure there's more people like me who gave "the beautiful game" a chance years back and put in the effort to go through ~6 months of the abstract where i had no idea what was going on and it seemed like a bunch of european/south-american manlets having a kickabout.

but once you compel yourself to break through that abstract of less scoring and you start to figure out what's happening and why (not to mention who the guys are) i can vouch that the game itself is proper in that the lack of scoring tends to add emphasis to the actual scoring. there's a proper ebb and flow to a game where it's a damn near perpetual buildup to some kind of wonderful release where on a mere deflection/header/tap-in seemingly out of nowhere you can go from prolonged agony/frustration to total release singing/chanting "FOOTBALL'S COMING HOME!" when, say, harry kane gets a header in stoppage time to put england ahead of tunisia in the final 2-3 minutes of the game. that's the beauty of the beautiful game.... you often gotta wait for that release to come, even tho sometimes it doesn't come (or it goes into a negative "why did i waste my time with this?" way that's a core tenet of "c'est la arsenal" =)

that said, i can totally do without the bearded new balanced bike riders who hear that you like european soccer/football and think you oughta support local/MLS stuff. i always say "if i wanna hear rap i'm not gonna go to poland for mc maciej... i'm gonna go with american rap. when i'm gonna fuck with football i'm gonna fuck with the places/leagues where football matters, and that tends to be europe"

plus the time difference works out great when you've got weekends to wake up and consume a few games starting right when you wake up and then by like 3-4pm you've consumed a whole day of sport. that's why i got into soccer in the first place.... when i'd be up early on saturday mornings and FX stopped showing buffy re-runs there was often a premier league saturday matinee game on ESPN2 so i decided that i was gonna dive into it and figure it out.... and i'm glad i did, even tho i've told quite a few people over the last couple'a years that arsenal fandom is my cross to bear. this is what happens, donnie, this is what happens when you first fall in love with a team that lost 0-1 @ norwich city to a goal by grant FUCKING holt. #urgency #handbrake talk during the #halftimeanalysis

tell you one thing, I'd rather watch soccer, baseball, croquet, spelling bee or just about anything else instead of reading through a Sini post.

Been here like 8 years and still have never read a sini post. Sorry dude, brevity is not your friend.
