A poor trade, but also a trade that was made before Sale, Eaton, Quintana, Melky, Khanle, Robertson, & Frazier were dealt.

At this point, how can anybody reasonably say that this rebuild is trending in the wrong direction? There are so few pieces on the MLB roster that its nearly impossible to judge at this point.

Are the Mets making the playoffs if they keep those guys? How many times over the last decade have the Sox make the playoffs with Kenny gutting the farm system making trades every year? How many playoff series did Ventura get to manage in?

The Sox have 7 of the top 100 prospects in baseball in their system. Only the Braves have more with 8. Maybe this rebuild works out, maybe it doesn't. In two seasons, the Sox future looks brighter. In 2011 or 2013, you could not say the same if you were to look ahead two years from then.

Look at how weak the division that they are in is. They did not have to do a complete house cleaning like they did. This is all on Reinny wanting to cut the payroll and nothing else having the excuse as in look at what the Stros and the Cubbies did. They could be on top of a very weak division with a very good pitching staff going into the play-offs where anything can happen.

That line of thinking led to how many shitty years of going for broke and ending up with guys like Adam Dunn?

Actually, they did. The division has been weak for years, and the Sox haven't made the playoffs in a decade. They chose a different path to try and win, because 'going for it' every year wasn't working.

 The guys the Sox traded made nothing, peanuts compared to market value. And they ate some Robertson, Frazier, and Melky money. The Sox have spent millions on free ajency over the last decade. Most of it was very poorly spent, but spend they did. Look at the contracts they gave out. You cannot deny that they spent a lot of money.

You (and keyser) clearly just have an axe to grind with the Sox and/or JERRY, and because of that you cannot look at what they are doing now objectively. As I stated, in 2013 this team lost 99 games with little to look forward to. Now at least there light at the end of the tunnel.

The Adam Dunn deal was bad. No question about it. But it was bad because of the player that they got not the notion of bringing in a power hitter who conceivably put them over the top. I think that you blame the GM who made the decision. In my opinion you do not trade two of the best pitchers in baseball who have good team contracts. They could have traded other players and gotten some about ready prospects in return. And the real blame goes to Reinny himself for his failure to let Hahn spend some money for a few solid players.

I think that I am being objective. I wasn't on this board when these trades went down but trust me on what I am saying. I HATED the Sales and Q trades then and now. I also predicted that what is happening would happen. YOu are correct , though, in having an axe to grind about Reinny. I hate Reinny doubly for what he did to both the Sox and the Bulls. He is a bum.

What, that the team MLB team would lose a lot of games this season? way to go out on a 6' diameter tree limb.

Seven titles.

Hawk, let me explain things to you. "Reinny" spent millions on guys like Dunn, Adam LaRoche, Melky Cabrera, Jeff Samardjza, Kosuke Fukudome, Matt Lindstrom, among others. They won nothing.

Rick Hahn wanted to conduct a full rebuild, and from everything we have been told, had to talk the owner into it. So again I state that you are unable to talk about this because you have an axe to grind with "Reinny"

Funny shit, Frank. I take it that you think that Reinny is a good owner? YOu talk about seven titles. Guess who won six of those titles...……. One guy named Michael Jordan, that's who. Reinny is a bum who wants to take his money with him when he croaks. I also do not believe a bit about Hahn having to talk Reinny into a "full rebuild".

2005!

The rebuild was absolutely the correct way to go. The problem is the GM and Owner have no idea how to properly rebuild. Theo was signing scrubs and turning them for Russell and Arietta at this point of the Cubs rebuild. Every prospect he called up performed except for Solar and the Cubs had a clear path to the playoffs. The Sox look like a mess, with fans praying that the next wave of prospects is better then the first wave of busts. If not then they missed a window of opportunity with a very weak division and a change of management will be next.

Russell is far from a "Scrub" He was a key part of the World Series team and his defense is among the best in MLB.

If you think he is a scrub then you must think Moncada doesn't belong on a major league team. They are only one year apart and Russell is "far superior!"

Revisionist history from Juiced. Arrieta was a scrub when he was traded for. He was nearly out of baseball, and he found whatever magic potion he found to have a historic run. Nobody-- not even Saint Theo-- could have predicted that.

Call it whatever you want. Sox fans like to call all their new fancy pitchers/players Cy Young/World Series/MVP. On the North side Theo actually delivered with Arietta/2016/Bryant.

I called it what I did which was accurate.

Yes, the Cubs hit with a no brainer draft pick and won a WS in a historically weak NL. A title is a title and that cannot ever be taken away.

I already said earlier that the Sox rebuild may or may not work. Nobody knows if it will or not. The one thing I do know for sure is that where we sit right now today, it is far too early to call what the Sox have done a success or a failure.

They're down 2-0 in the top of the second.

I'll bet you $1000 of Scorehead's money that the final score of the game you're watching ends up 6-2

Atlee Hammaker was on the '94 Sox? I did see him pitch 1/3 of an inning at Comiskey in '83.

Weird outing from Rodon. He looked dominate in a couple innings and he looked like he had absolutely no idea what hell he was trying to do in a couple innings. Gotta work on consistency inning to inning then game to game. This could take a while.
