why the hate?????

His exact type of college player had been drafted in the first round and failed too many times to count. In today's NBA, even a bigger chance with how long and athletic guards are. He won't be able to create, and his decision making is poor. The assists he made in college are turnovers in the NBA.

There hasn't been a player like Trae in college. No one in the history of the college game has combined scoring and playmaking the way Trae did this year.

You certainly have a type.

man, if I could give Lonzo's size and athletic ability to Trae and give Trae's shooting to Lonzo I'd have myself a couple of future Hall of Famers!

Was looking over some mock drafts and one of them has the Bulls taking Collin Sexton at 7 ... that does not seem likely to me. I think the only guard possibly taken is Young.

Memphis doesn’t have a 1st rounder next year. Would you do a deal before the draft (not knowing if Doncic will be there or not) that looks something like:

Bulls

2018 #22
2019 unprotected 1st
Bobby Portis

Grizzlies

2018 #4
Chandler Parsons

Nah I don’t think I can commit to that but it’s tempting. That Parsons contract essentially prohibits you from competing the next two seasons though, so I can’t give up next years unprotected first.

If Doncic was there at 4 I may do the deal but still objectively think it wouldn’t be a good idea. I’m just irrationally high on Doncic and think it’s insane the Kings might pass on him.

Doncic won't be there at 4.

I think whoever drafts Doncic will get fired in a couple years so maybe the Bulls should trade up and get him.

Same but that’s a pretty staggering difference in (perceived) value

If Doncic is there and the Griz/Hawks want to trade down I say you give up next years pick if that's what it comes down to. No to Lauri, but if it takes:

1.7
1.22
2019 1st
Portis/Dunn (I doubt you'd have to give up both should they throw in an unprotected 2019 first)

to do it, they should do it. Then try to go wild in free agency. Add Cousins and Tyreke Evans and there ya go, that's playoffs in 2019 without much fuss at all. Then the 2019 1st is not something you really find yourself missing too badly.

Obviously if taking on Parsons the Griz dont get the 2019 first and maybe not even 1.22. Give em Portis or Dunn and let them rot.

Most mocks have the Bulls getting Porter.

But Sam Smith says:

https://www.nba.com/bulls/features/sam- ... mock-draft

Wendall Carter, and Porter slips to 12.

well I'll go back to not caring about the bulls if they traded jimmy butler for the once-in-a-lifetime shot at drafting wendell carter.

Incredibly underwhelming if he's the pick. Porter seems to have star potential at least.

I think I'd rather have Carter than Porter. Porter is falling apart and he's not even 20 yet. Also seems like kind of a dickhead and someone teammates don't like. Good stats on a bad team guy if even stays healthy enough to have a career.

I feel the same way about Porter Jr., in fact I probably agree with you overall.

But they gave up Jimmy Butler last offseason specifically so they could make a big splash this draft right here. Neither Porter nor Carter are big splashes. I want neither of them unless its after they've already drafted Doncic (which is actually possible if they take on the Parson's contract).

While I'm not quite as ambivalent as I am regarding the Blackhawks I have no issues never watching another Chicago Bulls game the rest of my life. This isn't the Sox or Bears. So whatever, they can do what they want.

presumably they have better intel on Porter's medical situation, but with the Bulls you never know. carter ain't super exciting though.

It didn’t work out. Justin Holiday (a very friendly contract that could have been traded to a contender) and Robin Lopez won them quite a few meaningless games. It is what it is.

As much as people make fun of Suns ownership, at least they knew how to properly tank the past couple years. Tonight is going to be a beautiful moment when they take Ayton.

They are still in a position to get Doncic. Its just a matter of whether they want to pay the cost, because the Kings, Hawks and Griz have all been rumored to be looking to trade down. It'll of course cost more than they thought it would, but the likes of Kris Dunn and Bobby Portis are acceptable casualties.

Back in the day Reinsdorf would be rightfully hammered for being cheap. Can't say that anymore since its not PC. Dude's laughing his ass off.

The question I have is do you move up with Memphis now and pray Doncic falls? Because the cost for 1.4 right now is so low if you take on Parsons the Bulls could conceivably keep 1.7 and put a top 3 protection on the 2019 pick. You give up 1.22 + Dunn and/or Portis because the Griz want an NBA starter in return, so what.

But if you wait and see if Doncic actually falls the price doubles and suddenly it doesn't even look possible to make the trade up.
And if you make the trade and Doncic doesnt fall they basically gave up on free agency for two years and emptied all their assets to get two prospects who are neither really cant-miss guys.

Adding MPJ and Wendell Carter to Lauri Markannen is pretty underwhelming.
Adding Luka Doncic and Trae Young to Lauri is cause for actual celebration.

I agree with you 100%. Hopefully one of those teams do trade down so we can see what the cost is.
