they'll turn it on in the second half.

They will win the head to head in the division and slowly knock those teams down.
(Milwaukee is 32-13 when not facing the Cubs this year.)

They will be fine.

The Cubs had a good three year run when 3/4 of the NL wasn't trying. It's not going to be as easy this season. Maybe you haven't noticed, but the NL is winning interleague. For the first time in a very long time the NL is the better league.

Hard to watch these guys lollygag along the season with no heart or passion.
I don't see a WS this year. And after winning a WS that is all that counts.
Fuck these guys.

Another win for FF & CLH.

It's like some Cub "fans" have forgot life before 2014.

This team is not even close to bad. Underachieving yes, bad no.

This is still a very good team that no doubt has a few minor issues.

However, the depth and versatility of some players is very impressive.

Most teams would love to possess the issues the Cubs have. Three to five guys on the bench that could start on any other MLB roster is terrific.

Rizzo will begin to perform and contribute - he always does.

I think one of the most underachievers has been Darvish. His poor performance has been disappointing.

It's in Cub fan DNA, and it gets worse with age. The older Cub fans I know don't even recognize 2016 as having happened. All they talk about is how they suck now and how Theo and company suck.

The Cubs have given away a ton of talent and dollars with nobody to show for it. It may have finally caught up with them.

I absolutely love this team and will watch every game, but I also think its in my right to hold them to a higher standard and they are not meeting it. so I'm pissed and venting. I know full well they will have a strong second-half, but they should be playing a lot better than this.

Other than Torres, who has already had an ACL issue and wouldn't have been able to play SS every day with the Cubs anyways, please tell me the ton of talent you are referring to?

LaMahieu
Castro
Godley
Soler
Jimenez
Cease
Candelerio
~350M on Heyward, Darvish, and Chatwood.

For all that you have Quintana and Justin Wilson.

Of course they won the World Series, but they could have been set up for some kind of a run if they were as good a front office as the Chicago media tells us they are.

Nobody to show for it. Which explains their problems this year.

What kind of run? One where they win a WS?

The problem they are going to have is that the rebuilding teams like Atlanta and Philly are where the Cubs were in 2014. I'll go out on a limb and say that Ronald Acuna Jr. is going to turn out better than every Cub hitter not named Kris Bryant.

The Cubs won in 2016 in large part because Theo and Jason McLeod have had an amazing run on hitting on position players in the draft. Most of the young hitters are still improving - Almora, Baez, Schwarber, even Bryant. Russell is the only hitter who's not improving, and his playing time has taken a hit in the last month as Baez plays more SS. A guy like LaStella who would start on probably 22-23 teams at 2B has no shot of getting more than two starts a month.

But the question will end up being this: did they trade Eloy for the right guys (I'm counting Q + Darvish together because of Q's contract, vs. just Verlander)? If they did, they'll win in either 2018 or 2019. If not, the door is going to shut at the end of the 2019 season because they won't have enough pieces to get more pitching without trading some of the young position players.

The Cubs won in 2016 in large part because the lottery ticket from Baltimore matched all six numbers.

Does the trophy get bigger if they win it in less games?

What's your point besides trying to out troll Good Dolphin and failing miserably.

They have played in 3 straight NLCS, they are complacent in the first half. Wake me up when they are falling back after the break.
