So Aketcha was the first host to wake up?

Yeah seeing the maze triggered the bicameral mind stuff in him that Arnold was giving Dolores, and since he never died he had longer to chew on it and begin to hear his own voice, I guess.

But holy crap do I hate island episodes.

And Sizemore just suddenly had a change of heart? I dont think that was handled well at all.

Agreed on the Lee stuff. What the fuck was that about?

I enjoyed the episode but again it seemed mislplaced in the season. This is episode 8. There's 2 left this season. You have to be racing towards the finish line. If this was episode 3 or 4, I think it'd have worked better.

Preview for next week looks like more background filler dealing with William's family and his wife's death.

Season 2 and they're already digging into the Walking Dead bag of tricks with using backstory to fill an entire episode to make it to the finish line.

"I'm going to kill myself and turn our daughter against him because my husband releases his dark and sadistic side on a bunch of robots during his vacation" seemed a little weak to me.

And also, the thing with William and his daughter felt rather contrived. He was depicted killing one of Ford's messengers at the beginning of the season, but was also depicted showing compassion and restraint for hosts, and specifically didn't hurt the messenger delivering Ford's words right after that turn. This irrational impulsivity just isnt set up properly.

On top of that, William said early on in the season that he wants to "appeal my verdict" in what now appears to be a reference to the profiling system he created, but now he decides that murdering what he believes to be his daughter's host doppelganger after they literally discussed his first profile is the way to go about it?

I think he's losing control as he's going along. Or he's a host and he's breaking down. What was he digging for in his arm?

And RIP Teddy.

No way Bernard got rid of Ford that easily.

I am prepared to enjoy the heck out of the finale. Hopefully I won't be disappointed.

I think he was digging for the data port all hosts have, as he now believes he is a host under someone's control. This may be a bit of a red herring, because as you can see from the still of his profile, he has paranoid and delusional tendencies.

But that brings up another problem: Before ever stepping foot in Westworld, William was old enough to be exhibiting signs of these psychological disorders, but Young William is depicted as docile and unassuming. We are left to assume that Westworld brought out these disorders in his personality, but I dont know if that's how those things go. If you're paranoid and delusional, you don't need the freedom of Westworld to exhibit those tendencies, in fact I don't think you even get a choice.

Yeah I saw the breakdown of the screenshot of his profile. It's possible his initial visit to the park, which coincided with Dolores' initial partial awakening, caused him to fall deeply in love with what he thought was a real person and then he had his heart broken.

I agree about the red herring too. I think he's just falling deeper and deeper out of touch with reality

Maeve looks to be reunited with Hector and Armistice next week for the 90 minute finale.

Who are the other four or five marbles?

Who is in Hale's body now?

Where did the new world get beamed to? Are all those people all gone now?

So many questions that a finale should answer instead of giving new ones.

Ok, saw on Reddit the theory that the post credits scene takes place years after the host uprising in Westworld, after William has actually died, and they are testing his host self.

Then I thought: what if all The Game shit that we saw from William's perspective this whole season was just his fidelity test?

This doesn't make everything fit, though, because the season still showed us things for no purpose (how Emily got into the park before she ever interacted with her father, for instance, William wouldn't see that in his fidelity test, so showing the audience that meant she was also in the park for the actual uprising). And that results in plenty of loose ends for the MiB storyline that are yet to be resolved.

Not very impressed with this ending, regardless. Too many cliches (Sizemore quoting his own hack lines as he sacrifices himself for the sake of robots he spent 6 of 8 episodes questioning, Maeve dying with a smile on her face as she achieves her season long goal of saving her daughter via something she only learned of last episode), and a whole lot of Deus ex Machina.

Didnt see this when i had posted, but this makes a lot of sense.

The biggest problem is, though, this means that there is absolutely no closure brought to the William/MiB storyline through two whole seasons. That is unacceptable.

Well none we've seen yet. We know William was laying on the ground when Stubbs and the Delos people were evacuating people. So either he died from getting his hand blown off and has been living in an eternal hell for a long time or he was still alive and found by Delos and he goes back out.

We've been invested in William, at least for this season, because of his preaching about redemption and appealing his verdict. That was the repeated motivational narrative for almost every episode he was in, and then it just disappeared and never got resolved in any meaningful way.

Yeah I need to watch again because I think William had his plan and idea but he was broke by killing Emily.

I don't know man.

No fucking idea what happened or when it happened. Also now at the point where I think I don't care.

Also, I heard the show producer say before the ep to watch the after credits scene for a look at one of the other parks we haven't seen yet. I guess I missed that as well cause all I saw was the MIB scene which I didn't understand.

Also is Stubbs a robot? How did he know that Charlotte was really Dolores?

Think I'm done with this show. Jumped the shark.

I'll compare it to Mr. Robot.

Season 1 was great but season 2 was a bit convoluted and a misstep.

If it has a similar arc where season 3 rebounds then I can live with it.

For me it compares to Legion. I was willing to put up with the total confusion for an entire season once, not willing to go down that journey again. Gave up on Legion after 2 eps of season 2. Should've done the same with this.

Yeah we only see the decrepit version of the area Delhost was housed in, and the host version of MiB's daughter states it's the real world. So if it is supposed to be a park we've never seen, I'm guessing it is Futureworld or some park for host-human hybrids to evolve in?

MiB also says, when asked if he knows where he is, "we're in my fucking park", which could mean Westworld, but could also mean a park designed specifically for him to recreate his antics in Westworld when he was alive. Perhaps a park specifically designed by Ford to make MiB continually relive murdering his daughter on his quest to prove he's not a murderous psycho? There was some talk this season by a few hosts (Akechta and Maeve) saying that he didn't deserve the release death/redemption would bring.

Which I still dont like as a resolution of the storyline, because they were banging the Human William Redemption Tour Drum pretty hard for the first few episodes of this season, and to leave it at "nah, he didn't redeem himself he's just a monster, but we're not going to put a bow on that outcome either, maybe next season" is still fundamentally lame and unnecessary.
