my brother said pink floyd sucked. then he actually listened to a few albums. he no longer thinks they suck

Ultimately he's a kid raised in an affluent homogenous suburban who couldn't get an Ivy league school who went to a southern school known for tobacco money, basketball and similarly situated other northern kids frustrated by better schools' admissions offices.

And there, he joined in with friends that chose Public Enemy or Eric B & Rakim, because the Beastie Boys weren't edgy enough to worry their rich parents back home in comfortable suburbia. And because the Violent Femmes or the Cure hadn't worked.

And then decided to work in the most counter culture thing they could lazily slide into, sports broadcasting and journalism. Where he thinks music begins and ends with late 80s hip hop, which he doesn't really understand.

back in 2003 i was at a job site listening to high noon or some shit and berrnsteen said pink floyd animals sucked. i almost spit out my sandwich and never forgave him for that to this day.
