Free agent Derrick Rose is finalizing a one-year deal to return to Minnesota, league sources tell ESPN.

THANK YOU JESUS

Very few seem to be really holding it against him. Now that task is going to be getting harder with Boston healthy and Philly getting better, but I still give him better odds of pulling that off than dragging Julius Randle and Lonzo Ball through the western gauntlet.

Staying in Cleveland gives him a lot of points because its the human choice. People have changed, they seem to accept that the NBA is just gay like this now, so he wont be nearly as reviled for leaving as he was in 2010. Most people in Cleveland seem OK with it, the title seems to have given him redemption with them. BUT, he goes to Cleveland even if it fails it wont be held against him. That roster is a trainwreck and he'll have all the ready made excuses he's been enjoying--if he wins he overcame the odds and is the true GOAT, if he loses he's the GOAT for carrying those bums as far as he did. He cant lose staying in Cleveland. Now he probably cannot win either, but maybe the less risky choice is the right one.

He can’t beat Boston going forward and knows that. It invalidates the staying in the East theory imo.

If he goes to the West, and can't beat GS, Houston or other good teams (Utah/Okla, etc.), what is the point?

Why can't a LeBron lead team beat the Celtics next season? Agree that Boston looks very tough if they get healthy and are probably the favorite, but what options do the Cavs have to improve? Isn't James, Love, an improved Rodney Hood, Sexton (assuming he gets on the floor) enough to compete with Boston?

is he beating the Warriors without Leonard?

No but that just makes them equal and Kawhi seems hell bent on going to LA and making up for years of SA anonymity so it makes sense to me they will both be Lakers by the end of next week.

A team of LeBron and Kawhi is probably going to lose to GS still, probably in Round 2.

Give them some other players so it’s not 5v2 for 48 minutes and I believe you’re wrong.

Agreed though. Those 2 by themselves probably max out at round 2.

Sixers have lost 2 veteran contributors (Belinelli, Ilyasova) from their bench; do they go for Lebron or fill up their bench

But if they trade for Kawhi, I have to assume the Lakers are going to have to give up 1-2 of their better young players. I get that the Lakers could attract a few veteran players on 1 year deals to fill out the rotation, but how is Brandon Ingram, Kuzma (or both) not part of a deal unless the Spurs just decide to try and completely start over? I'm not sure how LeBron feels about Ball, but he could be valuable to let LeBron not have to be the primary ball handler.

Rumor tonight was Cousins could end up being the Lakers focus to with LeBron. That could end up making more sense if Cousins is healthy and they don't have to move any of their younger pieces.

Surround Kawhi and LeBron with conplementary pieces is what Marlo from The Wire would call a good problem.

If I’m a good GM I can find a way to surround the two best players in the world with enough talent to compete, even on a limited budget.

Don't disagree. Those two, and assuming they keep a piece or two they like, add 2 veteran types who want to play with that team, would be formidable. They would compete, but they aren't beating GS.

Is having a really team in LA that gets knocked out before the Finals a victory for LeBron? If his goal is the NBA large market of LA, I get it. If his goal is winning, why not join a team in the East? If he wants to join a team in the West, Utah has cap space.

I think he knows as I do that if he gets a healthy, committed kawhi they can easily beat the warriors with the right ancillary pieces. Kawhi is that good.

The Paul George thing is being stated like he choose OKC over the Lakers. I think there is more to it. I am not sure LA was that interested in him. I think they have their eyes set on Lebron and Kawhi. I think PG realized his best and maybe only option was to go back to OKC.

Leonard is a pipe dream, ain't happenin,. LA ain't winning shit. If they took Tatum instead of Ball their whole franchise looks much better. Magic knows he fucked up too

I do hope some reporter finds out the behind the scenes discussions that took place to influence PG to stay in OKC.

He's not winning a title in OKC, but he's also not winning a title anywhere but Golden State, Boston or wherever LeBron goes anyways. As if it becomes clearer that the LAL thing is starting to collapse George's chances of following LeBron have hit about zero. This LA thing is no good, so he's just going to take the most money which is something only OKC can offer him. I mean, OKC has as much as chance of winning a title as the LeBron-less Lakers do when you get down to it.

Yeah i must have missed the part where you predicted that 2 years ago. You bet on Minnesota got your clock cleaned on that and now you are running from it.

You are only now hopping on the Boston bandwagon and when i predicted this there was no Tatum.or Irving. or Hayward.

You been wromg about Philly Every step of the way. You're done and nothing more than a "master of the obvious" at this point.

I'm still rolling with Philly but i won't bet against Boston.
