It's actually sort of clever: MLB did this stupid "Turn Ahead The Clock" promotion years ago where they imagined the Mets moving to Mercury and all this sci-fi crap. So the Mariners brought their Turn Ahead The Clock uniforms back for a game as if to joke that the original prediction of the future was right all along. Whatever, it's only the Mariners. It's better than the Cardinals wearing powder blue caps for prostate awareness.

The last sentence is why I don't get the angst over this. All leagues have already bastardized every uniform to every degree imaginable. There's nothing left to defend on that front.

There are only two examples of infinity: The universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the universe.

I guess if the players like it and they're not going to wear these awful uniforms full time it's not much different than wearing throwbacks that actually look good once in a while. What I don't understand is how people think this is good for baseball because people on social media are talking about baseball. No one is going to sit down and watch a three hour baseball game because they like the way a jersey looks or because players get to "express their individuality" by wearing personalized spikes or something like that.

Oh, it's not good for baseball at all. I just think this was a funny inside joke.

I hate all this stuff too (you may remember the row denisdman and I had over baseball pretending to be The Troops to sell more crap). At the very least, the Yankees should be able to opt out of all stupid promotions like this. To bring it back to this Turn Ahead The Clock promotion, the Yankees did opt out by saying they would look the same in the future as they do now. I wish that had been true. Imagine paying out the ass to go to Yankee Stadium, you get there, and they take the field in pink hats like a bunch of basic bitches.
