A horror movie with excellent reviews, which is rare. It is written and directed by John Krasinski, and he and Emily Blunt play the lead roles.

Looks worth checking out.

Very interested in seeing this. Pretty cool Krasinski is directing, and starring with his real life wife. I think Emily Blunt is seriously underrated as an actress.

I went to see this tonight....
The cinematography was beautiful, the sound was intense, and all the performances were great, especially Emily Blunt.
You'll know which scene I'm talking about if you go see it. She's awesome!
Felt like I held my breath for 90 minutes, and I actually audibly gasped a couple times.
Highly rec'd!

Saw this Sunday night and had pretty big expectations. My son had already seen it and liked it. The reviews have been solid as well. Frankly, I found it to be just better than average. The visual work was good, and I really liked the back story. But the movie just kind of ended, and I was like, "that's it". The aliens were a rip off of Predator meets Alien(s).

Further I found it a tad annoying that there was more noise in the theater than coming from the movie. It was almost like watching a silent movie for the majority of the film. Yeah, I get that is the entire premise, but still disappointing.

In any case, the other three folks in my family liked it. I give it 2.5 stars max.

I was a Cloverfield fanatic until Paradox came out. Most disappointing movie ever.

We saw A Quiet Place tonight. Good, not great. I agree that the acting, camera work, effects, etc were all very good. If you're a person who likes constant suspense, this would be a good one. It reminded me of "Don't Breathe" in that regard.

I thought the backstory was lacking. I would have liked to find out more about how this all happened, but I'll admit that wasn't what this movie was really after. It was just about suspense, and it was very good at that.

I give it 3 out of 4 stars.

Krasinski had an interview somewhere saying the creatures are definitely alien, and a whole bunch of details about how their design came about. Too lazy to look it up for you tho.

EDIT: Haven't seen film yet. Desperately want to, but with newborn here I think I'll end up seeing this on redbox. Plus wife is a pussy when it comes to horror movies. However, I did get her to see "Don't Breathe" in theaters.

i thought it was outstanding stuff. it would've been nice to know the backstory but i think those headlines told a haunting story in their own right. That one that just says "It's Sound!" really stuck with me.

i loved the performances, and really liked how they had to handle the situation. the stakes just keep getting raised higher and higher throughout and led to an excellent climax.

felt at times a bit like "metalhead" from "black mirror" too. but it definitely lived up to the hype for me.

:D :D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

Finally got around to this on Redbox.

Idk if I'd even call this a horror movie. Def more suspense than anything.

Really enjoyed it. The acting was great. Story was very good.

Happy to hear they are planning on making a sequel.

The ONLY problem I have is 1st world countries had developed sound weapons for crowd control by the early 2000s, so this major revelation of using reverb as a weapon fell kind of flat for me. I understand a counter argument could be made that the world's militaries were overwhelmed before they realized the sound was attracting the creatures, but oh well. I'm just nitpicking anyway. Maybe they can delve into what happened as far as an initial military response in the sequel.

Also, Krasinski does appear to have some talent behind the camera. Hopefully, we see more solid work from him as a director moving forward.

Man oh man I did NOT expect that nail on the staircase to have such an impact later on in the movie. A nail is one of the last things you want to step on, particularly when your survival largely depends upon your ability to remain silent at all times.

I remember as a kid jumping off the roof of a clubhouse onto a board with a nail sticking out. It went through my shoe into my foot and stuck there. I limped home dragging my foot with the board behind me to have my mother pull it out. I was not quiet.
