It's not that he hits a wall, it's that he ultimately gets exposed as not being a 30 starts per year pitcher. That is the way it has been his entire career. He is a great spot starter and long relief guy.

It looks like the Cubs are going to need a starting innings eater for the second half. A guy like Shields may be just what they need at the price they are looking at.
