What is the point of saying that, and I'm paraphrasing, that people living under Jim Crow lived a better life then 99% of people? Explain it further since I clearly didn't comprehend the point.

The point is that if you want to say the United States is not an exception to the rest of the world, and that there are almost zero benefits to living here as a minority as many on the left are claiming then you have to put that into perspective with the rest of the world.

In the Jim Crow south black people had to ride in the back of the bus. Through out most of history the lowest people were the bus. They had to use segregated public bathrooms at a time when most people in the world did not have access to running water. Something close to 90 percent of the world's population lived in about $1 per day prior to the mid-19th century. By the 20th century the poorest in the United States would be considered rich nearly everywhere else. This does not justify Jim Crow, but it puts into perspective the idea that it all needs to be torn down.

What does "it all needs to be torn down" mean?

Jim Crow was a terrible thing to have to live under. How is that not obvious? I mean, with virtually anything you can say "Well, it could have been worse!".

Now, compare this to your victim complex about how people think racism is still prevalent and yet you won't accept that as a white man in the United States you have it better than 99.9% of people in human history.

It's because racism is not "prevalent". That's just stupid, and damaging thinking. You have embarrassed yourself every time you tried to prove this.

You are making up this victim complex. It has nothing to do with me. It's about the ideas. Saying Jim Crow was terrible is simple-minded ignorance. It was morally wrong, and there have been corrections for it. But it was hardly the only historical event people had to suffer through, but I'm not sure why it's the only one you believe we have to refer to as a standard bearer for human suffering.

Pretty much everyone laughed at your thoughts on Jim Crow even those who seem to be allied with you in the "fight" so I have to laugh at the "embarrassed" comment.

Was this in your secret racism meeting? There are many people here that see you have no argument. You have been completely outclassed in these discussions. It's boring. All you have is racism is bad, and you are dumb.

Do you think that "riding on the back of the bus" was the worst part of Jim Crow?

The worst part of Jim Crow pertained to the rule of law and the fact that blacks had no protection under it.
This is why public lynchings and floggings were able to take place without whites being held accountable.

This is why the firebombing of homes and the maiming of blacks was able to occur. Blacks could not bring criminal charges against whites because either the courts would not allow it nor did they have any hope of obtaining a conviction even if the courts did allow it.

The initial installment of Jim Crow also saw a virtual reenslavement of African Americans by whites in the South. Tenant farming and sharecropping system was essentially the second side of the slave coin for blacks in the South.

While you are referencing other groups living off of $1 per day blacks also (many in fact) were attempting to live off the same $1. Mind you they were attempting to do it while residing in a racist society with a much higher cost of living.

Now you are exaggerating. It seems that you are more interested with establishing a world wide sufferers ranking list than you are with actually providing clarity on a stupid statement.

When it comes to America the racism experienced by blacks Is far and away worse than that suffered by any other group. To say otherwise is stupid.

Context is aboveI, and it’s a general idea about analyzing something. If you say something is terrible then you are attempting to end discussion rather than learn from it. Terrible is a vague and meaningless term without context.

Can you provide any evidence of how the utopian like Jim Crow was better for blacks than 99% of the rest of the world?

Can you show me where 99% of the world was under the constant threat of lynching?

Saying Jim Crow is terrible doesn't end any discussion. Where you are getting that? ltg just laid it all out for you as to why it was terrible and it was a more interesting post on the subject than you have even attempted to make.

The sheriff is here and letting you know the people are trying to have a conversation. Some may be wrong and some may be very wrong but so far I am not preparing warnings for blatant racist behavior.

Proceed with caution.

You don't read good. See what I mean? It's all racism is bad. Can't discuss it. And you are dumb if you disagree. It's pointless exercise by someone looking to score gotcha points. You have said nothing other than repeat the most shallow of thoughts. You had zero examples of current racism in society other than sentencing, which is likely explained by prior arrests.

Some or much of what you say about analyzing is true, but Jim Crow was an abomination, and nothing else.

Context is aboveI, and it’s a general idea about analyzing something. If you say something is terrible then you are attempting to end discussion rather than learn from it. Terrible is a vague and meaningless term without context.

Some or much of what you say about analyzing is true, but Jim Crow was an abomination, and nothing else.

See what I mean? It's an abomination. That just means it cannot be discussed with any context, and we have arrived to where we currently are in completely opposed camps with the idea that everything was great for one race and terrible for the other. That just is not true. The conditions that most people lived in during the Jim Crow era would be considered appalling by modern standards. Repeatedly saying racism is terrible and ever present so we must denounce is lazy and divisive.

The irony in all of this is that you are engaging in absolutes even as you decry the use of absolutes.

You were the person that stated that "Blacks living under Jim Crow had it better than 99% of the rest of the world". Those were your words. You really haven't povided any context other than to compare it to other groups that had it messed up or people living in the stone age. You failed to account for those groups that really weren't all that poverty stricken regardless of time period nor do you demonstrate any actual knowledge of what blacks during Jim Crow really experienced.

To reference the "back of the bus" as if it is the worse thing blacks experienced is ignorant and insulting.

Whenever you're pressed you resort to the very condescending and Fox News like "no one ever said racism isn't bad" comment. You make the comment even as you imply that it isn't all that bad. When asked to explain why it is bad you offer nothing other than "yeah it was bad but did you see the other guy" denials.

At no point in this discourse have you ever actually addressed what blacks in this country had to endure. Not once. This stretches back much further than this particular conversation also.

I had more examples than sentencing but it's clear you are willfully ignorant to the point where you literally ignore many posts I have made so you can say "You have said nothing other than repeat the most shallow of thoughts" while you act like some pseudo-intellectual that somehow solved racial inequality in this country by saying "You know things like Jim Crow, and disparate sentencing, and inequality of school systems, and housing discrimination(see our President for examples), well, they just aren't big deals!" and then you take it further with stupid phrases like "racism police" and "Racism is bad!" and "You have no thoughts!".

Now, I'm sure you'll cry about me making fun of you with things like "What about Asians?" and "Were they in the military?" but at least you aren't actively seeking to fight me like an unhinged loon like you were with RFDC so that is nice!

From the guy that constantly refers to "Bay Area Markets" long after the discussion has ended. Atlantic Charter. Lies about NBA comments. Aint that rich?

As far as deranged goes you might possibly be the most "deranged" person on this board. You advocate for cops to be killed. You advocate for Civilians and Doctors to be killed.

You have interjected yourself into at least 15-20 discussions that i have been involved in for the sole purpose of taking personal shots at me. In fact i can't remember the last interjection that you have had that did not begin without you initially taking a shot at me.
Your lunacy in this particular area runs so deep that you've taken to defending reprobates such as Chas yet you pontificate regarding someone else's (perceived) derangement?

You have a weird obsession with my level of academic achievement attainment yet you're trying to provide a medical diagnosis for me?

You blatantly lie even when confronted with facts, which is in of itself symptomatic of some sort of psychological shortcoming.

Something is wrong with you.

You literally cannot have a disagreement with anyone on this board without it devolving into insults and attacks. You cannot have a normal human interaction on this board and it shows in every thread you post in. Everything turns into you claiming you're a victim and then lashing out.

Get help, learn how yo actually talk to someone on this board without attacking them or claiming you are a victim. This is not normal behavior and has me legitimately worried about you.
