Maybe JORR is getting jealous of Leash’s performance art.

Again, he didn't use it as an epithet. If he had said it to a pizza cook out of frustration, I would be the first to say he should be fired. I don't have any problem with Chris Bosio being fired and he used two words that in a different context aren't offensive at all. The context means everything.

He shouldn't lose his job over it. Or whatever he did (CEO but not chairman?) but a case can be made for firing him for stupidity of using that word in a sensitivity training exercise.

Free speech apparently but I am not sure because the government didn’t do anything. So I guess it’s the rights of offended anonymous people having a good day?

Free speech doesn’t mean your dumb ass can’t get fired, it means the government can’t go after you for it.

It doesn’t shock me that your level of comprehension on this matches Kris Kobach.

His point is valid though. Context does matter.

No I wasn't. You're pretending to be offended by the word. Just like the people on the conference call who were pretending to be offended by it. You all probably got in your cars and threw on Kendrick's latest. You aren't offended by the word at all. You just want to have authority to say who can say what. My fine solves that. But you don't like that solution for obvious reasons.

It wouldn't really be my place to be offended by the word. It's about empathy towards those I have known personally who would be offended by the word. That's why I keep mentioning the free market. Business executives have to mindful of how they are perceived and they take a chance when they say things like this. I don't think it's any different than the gay rights fighting Chik-Fil-A guy. I can judge him for his words and let the free market decide if it makes financial sense to keep him or not. With Chik-Fil-A, it seemingly helps their Christian based business and I'm fine with that. The people who run Papa John's had a different opinion on the matter.

It's just really amazing that the free market goes away in matters like this. All of a sudden it shouldn't be the will of the market that factors in employment decisions.

I think the free market is handling this. As this dope is the owner/largest shareholder it’s probably impossible to fire him. He quit. He quit because the firestorm will cost the company (him) money. When he quit the stock came back and he got his money back. He will not hold a job but will be very influential still in that company.

What if he was reciting song lyrics or a movie quote with that word in it? What happens then? What if he were caught watching a movie or listening to a song in his closed office with vulgar language?

Jorr is correct. This is a dangerous, slippery, and quite worrisome slope we're going down.

You know, you're really pushing the issue with me here and I'm going to ask you nicely one final time in front of the whole board. I'm not going to put up with you calling me a racist here. It's really ironic that this stupid Baby McNown character only exists within the context of a message board that Seacrest, Nas, and I allow it to post on. So if you want to keep on challenging me you can just return to your mundane life under your real name and be the real nice guy you claim you really are.

Well if we want to play the famous “slippery slope” game, if he didn’t do anything wrong then why did he resign?

Couple of thoughts on this guy:

1) When he was CEO, it was necessary to tell investors why the company was having an inferior quarter. And the NFL ratings were down, and there was a lot of controversy. So it makes sense that he would disclose his feelings on why Papa John's was suffering. The problem with that is, you are always going to piss off about half of your customers on such a charged issue.
2) The guy may in fact be a racist, but let's keep in mind, he was going through training. Obviously he and the company recognized there was an issue, and at least they were trying to fix the problem.

I always thought he had weird mannerisms in those commercials. He's probably just a socially awkward dude who had success well beyond his social skills and talent. He couldn't last on the big stage.

Actually, the character exists on many platforms (Like Munch from Law and Order)

Someone found him being the same way on a Chicago Wolves message board years ago, I believe.

It also should be pointed out he seemingly made that up about Colonel Sanders though it certainly would be a plausible thing for a southerner around his time of living to do.

I have no idea. Do you know why? Does somebody have to have done/said something wrong or offensive before they resign?
