What? Weddings are usually great unless it's a cash bar, or some religious loon that won't allow alcohol.

time - gender reveal - weddings take all dam day. literally ruins a saturday
drinking - equal - i've not been to a gender reveal that didn't involve alcohol
food - equal - both involve cake or cupcakes and usually food of some sort.
apparel - gender reveal - i can go to a gender reveal in shorts and a tshirt
cost - gender reveal - i dont' have to bring a present to a gender reveal
guest interaction - gender reveal - you don't usually invite your weird uncle to a gender reveal but are obligated to have him at the wedding.

i can probably keep going but you get the picture.

yup, you have no clue. weddings are great.

for women. congrats.

What's the downside of an open bar, nice meal and partying into the night with friends and family?

Into the night?

I thought those parties were typically like 2-7 afternoon affairs?

The question remains though, what's wrong with weddings?

I'm guessing it means he can't wear his garbage picking clothes to a wedding.

the ones i've gone to have been in the evening. nice little get togethers. believe me, i'd rather be doing something else, but they aren't horrible.

weddings are a complete waste of my saturday afternoon/evening. sitting through some ceremony thats too long, to then sit around waiting for some catered meal thats ok but not good enough that you'd pay for at a restaurant, open bar, i dont drink enough for that to matter 1 lick. i can hang out with the people that i want to hang out with whenever in tshirt and shorts. my wife goes to weddings all the time, i don't and nothing she tells me about what happened at them ever makes me wish i had.

the only redeeming thing about weddings is cake. i love cake. its the only thing that could entice me to attend. i have 2 close to the family friends whose weddings i'll attend when its time. outside of that the next weddings i'll go to will be my childrens hopefully.

for reference, we are hanging out with friends almost 3-4 times a week in some form or fashion. so i'm not a hermit who sits in the basement drinking alone. i'm a sociable guy. my wife thinks its weird that i don't like weddings.

i also say no when asked to be in weddings which happens infrequently now but was a regular occurrence in my mid to late 20's.

Honestly, your friends didn't care either. They may have pretended to care but they really did not. Your family probably didn't either.

It's sad to see you on the decline now.

This wasn't such a big thing when my kids were born....THANK GOD.

When it comes time to be a grandparent....I'm staying the fuck out of this nonsense.

 No you won't. I am only a quasi step grandparent and there is effort in that.

IF they do a gender reveal, all you will have to do is show up, drink a few beers, and cheer when the reveal happens.

You don't know my wife...I can confidently say she'll want no part of it either.

Babysitting, buying baby shit....yep, we'll be all over it. Public displays of stupid....no. We're too ghetto for that.
