Some of my favorites, basically all B movies but I revisit them every couple years nonetheless:

South Central (1992)

Because I love me some OG Bobby Johnson. They still have a poster for this movie inside the bathroom at The Patio (spotted it at the Eric B & Rakim show back in May).

Strapped (1993)

HBO flick directed by Forest Whitaker, and I believe this was Bokeem Woodbine’s first film. He’d go on to establish himself as somewhat of a shit actor, but then he turned in a performance that could only be described as legendary on Season 2 of Fargo.

New Jersey Drive (1995)

Lacking from a talent standpoint outside of Gabriel Cassius, but god damn is this a fun watch. All the more relevant these days with the cops vs car-jacker dilemma.

I’m also curious about Paid In Full, but ultimately, I haven’t sought it out because Cam’ron is involved. I just don’t like the look of the guy. I think it’s those U Mad? gifs. He’s free to make atrocious music, I don’t fault him for that.

I also find it insulting that they lifted the title from the Eric B & Rakim masterpiece of the same name. Paid In Full in that context is supposed to mean mastering your craft as an MC & getting paid the right way.

But I’ll probably still check it out if I’m flipping through the channels.

I really loved Do The Right Thing and Mo' Better Blues back in the day.
I agree with whoevr said Boyz in The Hood hasn't aged well, but we usually stop channel surfing if we come across it.
Doesn't matter if we've both seen it 1000 times...
