This was a swift termination. No dog and pony styled investigation in order to make it appear as though they are providing due process for the emoloyee. He was canned immediately which suggests that they had just cause.

If he dismissed it out of hand and refused to check once the request was made then that would be cause for termination. Calling the police didn't help either.

He's also a dime a dozen middle manager in an era where even the hint of white on black racism is toxic, and in a city where a highway was recently shutdown by protests. I can't say for certain what happened, but I would guess this is the case. The guy was shaking as he made the call. So I don't think he was the confrontation type.

It looks like a coupon that come in the product's package. The manufacturer likely produces private label diapers for different stores in different markets, so they have this universal coupon, that gets stamped with the store name that it is packaged for. It sounds like she tried to scan it. I don't think this is an elaborate scam.
