The most recent success is turning a mediocre pitcher into Jimenez and Cease.

I'll still take the White Sox's ability to eventually develop and coach up pitching prospects over most teams. Cooper is still a fantastic pitching coach after all these years. That said, its really hard to do. Look at how many Cubs pitchers have been drafted in higher rounds yet haven't been able to break the majors.

Based on what? The only success story (recent)is Chris Sale.

He was able to turn Quintana into something. And look at how he fixed, and they flipped Kahnle. A bit early to judge this group of prospects. Unless I hear otherwise at a wedding with other fans. They I will let you know.

I think Quintana was a finished product when they got him, it was just foolish of the Yankees not to roster him.

Anyways they absolutely botched the development of Rodon and Fulmer especially Rodon. Who lets a pitcher skip AA?

Just like they botched it with Sale.

Just because it didn't ruin Sale doesnt make it smart. Double A is a huge step in the development process. Insane to skip player at that level.

Based on Hahn's results in the Sale trade and the wash that was the Eaton trade I'd be hesitant to declare victory in this trade until both of these guys are successful major leaguers. Hahn hasn't outsmarted anybody yet.

Because of the incomplete results in one trade the other trade should be considered a failure despite Eaton being injured for the majority of it or something.

I love Adam Eaton and he’s one of my favorite players in baseball.

You simply haven’t been paying attention if you think that trade has been a wash so far. Even with Giolito being beyond worthless.

That's odd. I find Eaton to be a bonehead. Both on the field and off. This is a guy who played baseball his whole life and hasn't figured out how to hit 1st base in stride.

This is the subdivision, don't expect much of this horseshit to make a whole lotta sense.

Listening to Mike North White Sox fan saying it like it is was really refreshing about the rebuild. nobody has the balls to say what he did.

This is some hilarious shit. An inlaw at a wedding has the inside scoop of Red Sawx prospects......Jesus

As for developing pitchers.....Look at the 2005 team for reference. As well as players since of Sale+Q, and I am sure if I go through rosters I can pull up a few more.

Are you saying the results of the Quintana trade are in and the results of the Sale trade are not? Giolito being a dumpster fire is positive because Eaton has been hurt?

At this point I think Lopez may be a mirage. I'm certainly open to the fact that he can pitch above his xFIP, but I'm afraid it's going to catch up with him like it did with Giolito.

They unloaded 2 pitchers from the scrap heap last year. Comeon I don't think you can look at any pitching coach and say, what Cy Young winning did he produce? They are going to unload atleast 2 if not 3 guys this year. Soria developed a nasty pitch.

Eaton has barely played an inning for them. Meanwhile, the Sox have an emerging MLB starter, a fast rising minor league starter and Giolito.

Giolito's numbers were as a September call up type against advantageous opponents. Lopez is almost 100 games in as a legit middle of the rotation pitcher.

Eye test on him displays a very different pitcher but also player than Giolito.

Lopez has pitched a total of 38 games his entire MLB career. That's a far cry from 100 games.

He's still second in xFIP. Giolito is first. That's not to say he can't be one of those rare guys that pitch above their peripherals. He was ok early in the year. His ERA is 5.35 since the middle of June and 5.08 since the end of May so the trend has been downward.

Lopez' ceiling is hard to figure. My personal hope is he can be an innings eater and a solid 4 on a championship team.

Giolito has a -0.7 WAR this year but his last two starts were not disasters. He was 1.5 last year.

Lopez has a 1.6 WAR this year and is trending downward. He was 0 last year.

Eaton has a 0.8 WAR since leaving the White Sox.

Ergo, the trade is a wash.

I think this is a reasonable hope for Lopez' ceiling. He is a 4 or a 5 that doesn't get hurt on a decent team.

more sophisticated analysis

The Sox were obviously trading for the player's present value
