I can't be certain without all of the facts but i don't think they'd terminate 2 employees simply because they are scared of twitter optics.
Turns out one of the guys was a shift supervisor, not a manager, making about $11 an hour per PayScale.com. Even if the other guy was a full-boat manager, we're talking, what, 80K a year in wages paid to these guys versus the gross receipts of....you pick it: All CVS stores in a "major market" which could be the target of protests and boycotts, the receipts for all the CVS stores in the city for a week or two.
Do you think CVS is going to risk either of the latter two to preserve the former?
But we are to believe that CVS is going to go the extra mile for a "grifter" "thief" and a person that steals by using "fake coupons"? Let's see "manager" or "thief"? That sure is one hard choice there. IF the coupons are fake and he is doing his job then he isn't terminated.
You dont understand: CVS corporate doesn't care if the coupon was actually fake, nor do they care if the manager operated within their protocols and training for limiting loss. From the get-go they were acting to keep the hounds at bay.
That is your perception. Maybe they simply engaged in damage control because there was an actual reason to use damage control. Fake coupons are one thing but the main issue is the contacting of the police and the threats to have her arrested.
The coupons could be summed up as an honest mistake. Calling the police and making statements that may be "patently" false isn't. That is what you don't quite "understand". If the employee simply makes a mistake about the coupon he keeps his job. If he becomes belligerent (which you don't know if he did or didn't) then that is another story. Having someone contact the police on his behalf for the purpose of making a false arrest simply because he thinks he can is another story completely.
She explained that she originally took her phone out for the guy that locked himself in the room. It wasn't for coupon Carl. She stated that her and coupon Carl were having a cordial conversation. Her disagreement was with the other employee and from it appears Coupon Carl was merely supporting him by contacting the police.
That is one of the most condescending posts/replies I have ever seen around this place. Wow.
