When you’re laying down in bed, the mind set is that you’re resting whether you are asleep or not. The more you relax and let yourself believe you’re resting, you either fall asleep or you are physically letting your body rest. Eventually you will be rested.

My grandfather followed the same practice. But he also built himself an enclosed porch and could sleep in the breezes.

Oh, that would be nice. I'd love to throw open the windows but my wife is allergic to dirt.

It's real. She has an allergic reaction every time we open a window.

Yes, she does go outside. I can't explain it.

There are allergies that are common now that I never would've guessed possible thirty years ago. Makes one wonder.

Opening a window probably stirs up pet dander or whatever other resting particles are on anything near the window. Its a different air flow pattern that the HVAC system so it stirs it up.

There's a podcast called "sleep with me" that is very good. It's a guy who has insomnia himself who has learned to tell stories in a way that is so meandering, with so many pauses, that you eventually get bored and fall asleep.

I was sceptical at first, but now I use it about once a week. (They do 2/week).

I suffer from chronic wake up at 2AM can’t fall back asleep syndrome. It’s like Doc says, stupid worrying about work stuff, or a project. It’s silly. I’ve woken up and shot straight up in bed worried that I left a gate open. Can’t go back to sleep till I check. I’ve done this a few dozen times over past few years. Not once has it been open. The mind just starts churning and churning. I’m an anxiety guy, whether I’ve had zero drinks or 12, makes no difference.

As far as initial fall asleep, that can happen too and while chemicals surely help, I’ve gone the classical music route of late. Or reading Moby Dick.

Reading will not work for me. I get too interested and won't put the book down. I try remembering everything I can about a fun pIace i have been. I try to remember as many details as I can. The more detail the more tired the brain seems to get, or maybe just unwind. My insomnia can be driven by tasks to complete or moments of remembering failures. So a fun/happy place can change the mindset. I go with fly fishing as a kid.

Welcome to my soothing hair salon :) Today I will be slowly and gently creating a beautiful haircut for you ♥ I'll take a close look at your hair 00:50 . We'll examine your face shape 05:15 then browse through a magazine to find a perfect haircut for you. I'll cover you with a guard 16:16 and spray a bit of water on your hair 18:38 before I start combing through your beautiful hair 20:02 and cut it 26:16 . I'll gently brush off excess hair 36:06 and recline you. I'll start washing your hair 39:42 , apply shampoo 43:23 and a mask, then dry it with a towel and qtip. I'll spray a bit of leave in treatment 55:40 and comb it through 57:20 and will start blow-drying your hair 59:19 nice gently. I'll check the final result 1:06:06 and run my fingers through your hair for a bit to relax you more :) Thank you! I hope you enjoy it! ♥

Probably has something to do with all of the damned chemicals they put out that get into the air we breathe?
