Another really good one...

We can all agree (except for Dignified Rube) that it's not Stairway, though, right?

If you said Kashmir live from '75, you might have a point. Some great soloing by Jimmy at the end (e.g. Earl's Court 5/25/75) and he did it not even in standard tuning. It's in DADGAD.

I would still say, Stairway, then Rain Song, Going to California, Kashmir, Thank You live from '70 and Dazed and Confused live from '73. Always liked the San Francisco section.

Zip it, Pasta...I'm moving something that could be turned into an argument derailing another thread into it's own place for irrational arguments.

You guys will hurt yourselves if you spend too much time on this. Even a Top 20 would be difficult.

Not really. A definitive top ten songs would be easy to do. Jorr and I may disagree on what is #1, but Achilles, Kashmir, CB, Stairway, Whole Lotta Love...all belong in the top ten.

Top ten or twenty favorites would be interesting.

It's Stairway to Heaven, but to play along I'll say Whole Lotta Love.

I could probably do 20 with no problem.

I could probably do 20 with no problem.

And you'll have 2-3 honorable mentions that you will feel bad about leaving out of your Top 20. The catalog is that good.

It was their highest charting single and a live staple at every show post 1969. It's not one of my favorites, but it's absolutely in their top ten.

I once had a book that stated, "Heavy Metal music was born with 'Whole Lotta Love.'"

Possibly true. Whatevs.

However, this reminds me of the Deepest Purple album jacket: "2/3 of fans on both sides of the Atlantic agree that it was Deep Purple, and not Led Zeppelin, that invented metal music."

Bought the boxed set with all the albums way back in 1993 or 94. Not sure I could really pick out one song that was the best.
This will probably be sacrilege to the Zep heads on the board but other than Houses of the Holy I would have to say that my
favorite album was Coda. We'd toss that in the CD player when partying at my buddies house and play drinking games and
that disc never seemed to get old. Whenever I hear "Hey Hey What Can I Do " I get transported back to the mid 90s and that
album specifically. I'd say that is my favorite song although I am sure no one else would pick it as the best song by them.

Don't forget Zeppelin would not have existed without Vanilla Fudge/Carmine Appice. (Carmine is one of the most important drummers in the history of rock music. Just ask him.)

The Pussy Set.

No, those songs have the most musicality.

Hard most of the time does not equate to good music.

Communication Breakdown is rudimentary.

Jimmy Page was a wiccan. How do you justify your passion for Led Zeppelin when their creative lead was a cultist and possible satanist?
