Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones will not report to camp Thursday because he wants his contract reworked, league sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

The Falcons are aware of Jones' plans and hope he changes his mind, per sources.

Jones could be fined up to $40,000 for each day he misses. The Falcons' first practice is Friday.

The team has previously said that it will not rework his deal.

Jones signed a five-year, $71 million contract in 2015 that included a $12 million signing bonus and $47 million guaranteed. His base salary this season is $10.5 million.
I can think of nothing more appropriate for this than

....more out of season NFL news!

Unless you are a Falcon's fan(I don't believe so) or related to the Moreno family, why do you fucking care? What a stupid fucking thing to get upset about. What a stupid fucking topic to post in DBOTW.

No shit. We should close the entire sports teams section off then if we're only supposed to posting about things that have a direct effect on our lives.

Im not "siding with management", but fuck Julio Jones

Chris Mortensen
@mortreport
Julio Jones' $47 million in guarantees was paid out in first three years of his extension at a fair market value of almost $16m per year. He has three years left at $10.5m, $12.5m and $11.4m but annual salary not guaranteed until week 1 as vested veteran

Part of me thinks you wouldn't have an issue if Julio Jones had perhaps, lighter skin. Again, don't see why you are so enraged by it, other than it's that time of the month when your vagina starts to bleed.

Well you have fun with your little Julio Jones voodoo doll.

As for the story, who fucking cares. He will eventually report and play. We have seen this play out. Those who follow the NFL and aren't missing a chromosome like you.

That was the Mike Glennon argument (who cares, it's just the McCaskey's money and has no effect on the team).

I think its the exact opposite of that though. Wasting 15 million on Glennon was wasted pie that could have been reallocated else where. In the falcons case, giving Julio more pie makes more sense than upgrading a back up tightend or depth Oline player.

Why is that? He's coming off a down year compared to his career averages and historically dominant WRs really aren't the key to winning - Julio, Moss, Cris Carter, Calvin, TO, Andre Johnson, Antonio Brown, etc. That money is better spent on the lines.

It's not siding with management to say the correct play here is to call his bluff and bring him in late. As others have said, he's at the stage of his career where he could benefit from having camp and a couple preseason weeks off.

I care less when a football player wants more money. IF he gets it, more power to him. If he doesn't get it, tough shit. Football is a brutal fucking game with the great majority of long time players ending up crippled for the second half of their life.
