I'm not really understanding why people are blaming the Bears on this one. The Bears have a well established history of signing their picks to fair slotted contracts very early. On the other hand, the agency for Smith was the one that represented Bosa, who also took his holdout deep into camp, despite a slotted system. Seems the common denominator is this agency firm.

To be fair his agency wasn't a secret when they drafted him. You are right that Bears historically have been extremely proactive about signing picks, especially since the Benson situation.

Benson was drafted before the slotted rules for rookies. It's absolutely insane any rookie now would hold out this long in the slotted system. It basically cut and dry. Unless one side is being unreasonable. His agency does have a track record in that regard.

Roquan Smith is a great football name

whoever is on the right side of this negotiation (perceived public right side) needs to leak the details on what the two sides are arguing over.

They mentioned on the radio that the new rules would have affected a total of three plays (out of 40K) in the entire league last year. So unless he's Vontaze Burfict..he's got nothing to worry about. Get your ass in camp.
