I like Nagy and that’s the only reason I can find for optimism regarding the Bears. A good coach makes a world of difference. There’s nothing special or beyond mediocre about the roster talent though.

On paper the Bears have a lot of talent on offense. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is the biggest question mark. On defense Fangio has been able to make chicken salad despite not having an elite player and with a ton of injuries. All around the Bears arrow is pointing up.

The only known talent on offense going into the season is Howard. The QB is definitely an unknown, the top WR is coming off a major injury and the TE was a 3rd stringer that is presumed to be good because he was on the Patriots...despite the fact that they let him go.

So they’re not as bad as the Browns, were in some close losses and can’t get any worse than they have been for the last several years are reasons for optimism. You’re a glass is half full guy which is admirable.

He’s a Saints fan trying to give his Chicago brothers some hope. I can see that.

If I know Z as a sports fan he’s currently constructing all the different scenarios in which his title contending Saints miss the playoffs this year.

I've seen 1 and the expectations for my team has been a lot lower. Very few playoff heartbreaks because of that. It's kinda like having a LeBron James for 30 years and coming up short just about every year. That has to hurt.

Come on man. Let’s at least argue in good faith here. Burton was not a third stringer, was on the Eagles, and was very good when he played. Robinson is good when healthy. He’s a known talent.

You did not see 1985 my friend. Hard to appreciate those things as a toddler.

I’ll take being in the mix every year and winning two titles but falling short the other 20 years over being the Bears/Lions/Browns/Clippers/Padres, etc

"3rd best skill position players"

Easily better than the Lions. Absolutely no contest.

Better than the Packers.
Robinson = Adams (you're going to bitch about this, but you know its true)
Gabriel = Randall Cobb
Anthony Miller >>> all the WR drafted by the Packers
Bears TE < Pack TE
Jordan Howard >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>having a wide receiver play runningback
Tarik Cohen>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>having a wide receiver play runningback

Bears are close with the Vikings. Depends how much you like Theilen I guess. Dalvin Cook is the really the X-factor in that determination. can be argued either way.

There is absolutely no football universe that exists in which Taylor Gabriel is equal to Randall Cobb as a football player. Come back to planet earth my man.

Fine whatever. At least the Bears aren't starting the season with a WR as their #1 RB.

I’ll say ironically I disagree with you on which TE is better. And even though you and I are on the same page about Howard being a special runner, you still severely underestimate Jones/Williams and Montgomery as a passing down back. That’s more than formidable.

Davante Adams is going to firmly plant himself in All Pro contention this year.

I believe Aaron Jones will be the starting RB week 1.

Montgomery was very good running inside the tackles though. His durability doesn’t lend itself to bell cow status though.

Honestly the Bears could easily have the best coach in the division too.

I'm not the biggest Mike Zimmer fan in the world and just think he got handed a really, really talented roster. Good steward of talent but I dont think he's one of the leagues best coaches.

McCarthy and Patricia both should not have the jobs they currently have.

Didn’t realize he was suspended, definitely had a wtf reaction to this post.

Anyway, williams is fine and I like him a lot anyway. We’re good.

Zimmer is a good coach, McCarthy isn't..the rest of the division is to be determined.

Just about any other coach wins multiple Super Bowls with Rodgers. McCarthy will give away at least 1 victory this season. That could be costly in this division.

That’s almost understating the difference between the two coaches(rfdc will eventually agree with what I said years ago about Zimmer being undoubtedly the best coach in the division) but Rodgers makes up for a lot of discrepancies in which Minnesota is superior. I have zero fear of Kirk Cousins.

Zimmer is really good. I like Nagy but thinking Nagy will be better is overly optimistic. Your last sentence is undoubtedly true.

When Cousins is good he is really good. Having that defense and those weapons could make him look elite.

He's had very good weapons throughout his career. He's a known quantity now. He's just not that good. He's not a difference maker and likely won't put up much better stats than that keenum guy did last year.

I think that you are underrating him. He's an upgrade. The Vikings should be a top 2 or 3 team in the NFC.

I think I have a very good read on Cousins, especially due to fantasy football and following his specific games the last couple years. He’s not great. The Redskins QB position is not worse than it was last year right now.

I believe the Vikings (correctly) surmised that Keenum was not going to be one of the best QB's in football again in 2018 so they acquired a QB who they think is more capable of replicating Keenum's success. They got better in other areas this year. Better defensive backfield, better defensive line, more offensive weapons, getting Cook back is huge and just in general they are deeper. They lost Jerrick McKinnon...big deal. If Kirk Cousins is who he has always been they will cruise right back into the playoffs.

Agreed. They’ll cruise to 10-6 and a first round playoff exit. They aren’t going to the NFC championship game again.

Lol no way. The Rams won’t lose to them again and the Eagles, Saints, Vikings, and Packers are better. Carolina might be good enough again to knock them out of the playoffs altogether.

They can never be taken seriously again after 28-3.

I hate teams that lose the conference championship the year before. Cardinals and Packers both missed the playoffs the last few years so fuck the Vikings. And yeah, Cam was throwing darts against the Saints but nobody was capable of catching the football. Their offensive line is embarrassing too.

The Falcons handled the post-Super Bowl hangover well. Made the playoffs, beat the Rams and nearly beat the Eagles. Defense is better and they added another weapon in Calvin Ridley. Daddy likes.
