I love dogs but this breed is a major problem. The "end the stigma" folks are not helping.

During dinner the other week I was telling my girlfriend how tired I am of all these irresponsible pitbull lovers and how they're just as bad as the "kill all pitbulls" crowd.

Only the top dog trainers should own pitbulls, no one else. I admittingly do not fall in this category. The issue is you have all these women who are dog lovers who just want to prove so bad what a great breed they are, and yes, they can be great, loving dogs but they can also be vicious killers who can snap at a moment's notice.

The end result is having a bunch of broads adopting pitbulls with a blurry past so they can post videos of them giving it a bath on instagram. Enough already.

Alot of these pro pitbull sites refer to them as nanny dogs. Basically the message is "My pits are good with my kids so what's the problem?" Well that settles it, I guess we were all wrong about the breed after all.

I like all dogs, even pits, but the delusion about the breed has gotten out of control. I'm seeing more pits all the time in my neighborhood that are being walked by people who clearly shouldn't own one.

Not to mention that these dogs are strong as all. A beagle or even a lab bites you and one swift kick gets you free. A pitt bull runs at you, and potentially you could find youself in some serious trouble.

I do not know what the conclusion is but the local Humane Society here is full of them. I was looking to possibly rescue a dog and that was easily the majority.

I am also a dog lover, but the people who wax poetic about pit bulls are misguided.

A common phrase is "it's not their fault." I agree 100%. It's humans' fault for breeding them and training them to kill. But that provides little solace when their jaws are locked on your 5-year-old's throat. Not all pit bulls are "bad", but the problem is if they are, they can kill in seconds. Ever tried to tear two pit bulls away from each others death grip? It's impossible. The only possible solution is to stick your fingers up its asshole, and that's still not a guarantee.

I usually check out my local humane society every few weeks just to see what they have and the dogs on hand are usually 75% pit bulls, and I have been looking for the past couple of years. Kind of sad actually. I think some of them are good looking dogs but I wouldn't risk adopting one ever.
