A good majority of high qb picks do fail.

Maybe you are just playing the odds. Odds are (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky will be bad. QBs are a scratch card. Right now we've only scratched out one number. Cutler's scratch card was looking pretty good until the final scratch.

I don't think Nagy was that sought after that he would be picky.

Didn't a team try to not allow him to leave?

So (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is already a Hall of Famer in your mind already, eh? Good thought.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step:

Rich Campbell wrote:
(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky had pretty much locked in, just as he did Sunday, when coach Matt Nagy praised his anticipation and accuracy. He made it through Monday without being intercepted, the first time in 11 full-speed practices this summer he has done so.

It appears — in a tiny sample, anyway — that all the practice reps are starting to take hold in his mind and body. Suddenly, the second-year quarterback has stacked two strong practices to generate positive momentum entering his 2018 exhibition debut Thursday night against the Bengals.

Just like Kris Bryant needed 10 days in the minors to work on his "fielding?", Mitch needed 10 practices to work on not throwing to the other team.

Cutler never looked good, turnovers lose games..he had way too many. He couldn't read a defense, poor leader and injury prone to boot.

I would have loved to seen Pace not trade up and get Watson. He didn't even need to trade up for Mitch. I like Nagy but I doubt Mitch will ever be a good pocket passer..that's a big problem.

Congrats on knowing that a 3rd year QB coming off a 4000 yd 25 TD season sucked. You knew then that in the 3 years he played, that the interceptions in key moments would be his calling card. Plus you knew about his jerkface and being injury prone. How'd you feel about Troy Aikman after 3 years? Or Drew Brees?

I ain't buying what you're sellin'.

Hopefully, the new O-line coach can put together a decent offensive line to protect the guy!!

How long is the first team out there? Hopefully a quarter because it is a new offense.

One series is what Anthony Miller said on the Score a day or two ago.

I spent last year saying "First year production doesn't matter much". Now, I have to do it here. I'm getting tired of having to say it. It's time to start showing what he can do.

I really don't get the one series. Why bother? Either play a quarter or don't.

Add me, too.

All I wanted to see last night was some indication, a glimmer of hope that the Bears offense under (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky could be good, and they failed. What do you do in practice all day that when it comes to an actual game you are not mentally prepared?

Playing your offensive starters so little in this game doesn't get you any closer to a championship. They are the ones that need the most live work.

And Mitch needs to lose the beard. The only QBs that ever looked good in a beard are Fouts and Ryan Fitzpatrick.

NFL fans continue their yearly ritual of freaking out about preseason games that nobody cares about.

I think his first year performance narrowed the range of possibilities. He's not Aaron Rogders and he's not Cade McNown. My biggest concern with him is not his: arm strength (it's not Cutleresque but it seems fine), his mobility (better than average), or his decision making (as near as the Bears will let him make decisions, it seems okay), but his accuracy. What scares me, is I don't know if accuracy can be improved upon. If it's caused by technique, I suppose it can, but if it's caused by hand eye coordination, I'd say it definitely can't.

From the guy who stated last pre-season that Cameron Meredith should NOT have been playing at all when he was injured.

I don't get all of the negativity about (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. He was a rookie who played about half the season last year on a fundamentally shitty offensive team run by a stupid head coach and offensive coordinator. HE was working behind a horseshit offensive line and literally no decent starting receivers and TEs. All he had was two good running backs who were mismanaged by horse shit play calling.

Face it. This team is still going to be shitty this season. But hopefully Nagy can build an offense around (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and not play the same crap PLAY NOT TO LOSE philosophy of Fox and friends.

I'm expecting a Payton Manning rookie season type year from Mitch. If they are truly going to open it up and let him learn from his mistakes, then mistakes will come in bunches.

Next year will be the year I am looking for him to be the QB Pace thinks he is. This is really his rookie year, not last year. That was extended spring training.

Some truth in the last two posts. Let him loose with a modern coach and offense. Let him play through good and bad then evaluate after the year. I never really understood the protect him with a Fox like offense. Maybe a couple games to get past nerves sure but then you only learn at full speed balls out imho.
