Mikita has one of the coolest banners not just in hockey, but in all of sport.

His retired number that hangs at the UC has the timeframe 1959-1980. You look at it and almost think it is a misprint.

Especially since the league was 6 or 12 teams for a majority of it. No expansion hanger-on.

It's rough watching my childhood heros fade away. The only thing was when I was a kid I could only watch guys like Mikita and Hull for half a season,due to blackouts.
