Jacob deGrom has a 1.55 ERA this season. The Mets are 5-9 in his starts.

Lucas Giolito has an MLB-worst 7.09 ERA. The White Sox are 5-8 in his starts.
Do you provide any original thoughts, or just copy paste things to stir the pot?

DeGrom has a career win% of nearly .600 over 120 career starts.

Jose Quintana can only dream of that.

I'll see how Jorr spins this one, should be interesting

Small sample sizes. If those were over 150+ starts it would invalidate his Quintana point.

Ahh 312. How many starts has Quintana made in a cub uni? Gotta be close to thirty.

It was 170+ for the Sox.

Still too many walks, but he's been respectable for the last several starts.

That's being generous. You just have to go back to July 3 when he gave up seven runs in five innings. He had a couple bad outings in June and a couple decent outings. His last three starts have been pretty good. He and Lopez do seem to be trending in opposite directions now. Lopez's ERA has been skyrocketing his last six starts. He's had one decent start and 5 stinkers and his ERA since mid-June is over 6.

Yes, decent. Glad you threw Lopez in there, too.

Are you a Cubs fan or are you simply a joyless jagoff who everybody actively dislikes? I don't mind trolling by Cubs fans, but you're less fun than a short-haired, thunder-thighed, purple-haired bespectacled lesbian at a Super Bowl party.

Honestly ... not trying to be a jerk but I think you jinxed him. He had some good games, then since this 7/24 post he's been .179/.289/.308/.597 over 11 games. Before that he was .333/.423/.571/.995 over 6 games.

So you mean to tell me that young players go thru hot and cold stretches?

Shocking!

I don't take discussion as being jerky.

He was doing well and subsequently slumped but the original argument stands. Step up to AA where he is multiple years younger than the average player in the league and still playing OK. He has been universally praised for his work this year, besides you. The arrow is pointing up

A bold prediction, it’s now up to the voters to see if his league best worst ERA of 6.13 gets any consideration.

I still feel pretty strong that America and Giolito will both be getting the same number of votes for the Cy Young.

I swear I am not trolling, I honestly don't know the answer to this question: which traded for prospect will end up with the better MLB career, Giolito or Addison Shawn Kemp Russell?

If you made me bet my 401k, I think I'd go with Giolito. But I'd be worried.

I'll go with Teoscar Hernandez tbh

Something will go wrong since it’s the Sox but he’s been fun as hell to watch this year.

There are sometimes a glimpse of the real make-up of a young player and Giolito showed some huevos to me today. When he came out and struck out the side in the top of the 5th today in a driving rainstorm, that was awesome. And listening to the commentary in the booth today about his confidence in McCann was also heartening. Pretty good win today over-all.

Driving up the price of retaining McCann.

They have to sign that guy. Castillo is driving me crazy along with his dumb shit manager.

He's still under arbitration next year. After that he is a 30 year old free agent catcher with inconsistent production. I think I've said it before but I think he would jump at the chance for a 2-3 year in the off season at a team friendly amount.

It's really great to see that Giolito and Lopez are now keeping the Sox in games even without their best stuff.

Their development is as critical as any of the offensive players. If they can be confidently locked into 3-4 slots, this whole future pitching staff really starts to take shape.

Yes, but it was something around 12 a few weeks ago.
