That was the most intriguing college basketball i've ever seen and if you think about they were a precursor for what we seen now in the NBA. They were one of the first of the "positionless" basketball teams.

Got to throw Depaul's loss to Wake Forest during Ray Meyer's last game too. I just remember seeing Phi Slamma Jamma's team waiting in the stands at the stadium. They were going to play Depaul in the very next game. Those were the 1-2 seeds in that region that season. I really wanted to see that matchup.

I have gotten past this but it was tough at the time- 2014 Blackhawks loss to the Kings in the WCF. One of Q's worst series as a Hawks coach. Hawks would have beaten the Rangers in the Finals to repeat. Maybe it would have been a 3-peat.

Mike, you're from Chicago. When you grew up, name a Chicago college football team? The only potential answer is Northwestern, and they were an absolute door mat our entire lives. In high school, most kids either rooted for Michigan or Notre Dame. And for Notre Dame fans like me, it was passed down through my family.

Unlike other states, say Wisconsin or Iowa, not many people from Chicago look to UIUC as their home team.

And I am not saying ND is a Chicago team. I am merely explaining why I became a fan, and why other Chicagoans love/hate ND as a regional team.

In retrospect the Northwestern collapse vs Miami of of Ohio in 95. It was painful enough to watch in person, knowing it would keep the cats from an an undefeated regular season.. that would have been agony.

My mom taught me a healthy hatred for ND. I don’t know if it was her Polish Catholic upbringing, her leaving the Catholic Church as a grad student, some weird Chicago anti ND thing (hell, maybe great grandpa was a U of C fan) or a pro big ten loyalty from her fine as a Hawkeye. All I know is besides teams from Texas, the New York Mets and Cardinals, ND was the only team I ever saw her actively wish bad luck upon.

My mom, for some reason, hates the state of Texas.. there was one time that it was flooding and she remarked that a few more inches of rain might just make it a place worth visiting. I though for a while that this had to be some miss memory. A weird as dream or something until my brother brought it up to me. It’s odd as my mom, in general, doesn’t seem to have a lot of vitriol in her.

I don't disagree with this either, but you can't make up rules after the fact. This should have brought to the league's attention the fact that the regular season really doesn't matter to these teams very much -- they need to come up with rules that make every game competitive. More than any league, the NBA is riddled with tanking because tanking works! Come up with rules where it doesn't work... but you can't apply them retroactively.
Teams had routinely rested players, and nothing was done about it at any point. If there are issues about resting healthy players, maybe make some rules about it? Look at going into this year... Golden State just needs to keep players fresh when the playoffs start... I guess they might want to break the all time win record in a season, but if not, why not just go 60-22 and have a completely fresh starting lineup for the playoffs? That makes total sense as a coach.
MLB is running into this a little bit too this year with position players pitching. It makes sense as a coach if a game is either well in hand or well out of hand to save your bullpen the stress, but it is pretty much the same as resting players in the NBA. Will be interested to see if any action is taken on this or not.

Went to a ten year high school reunion. Had to sit with a few Notre Dame grads who talked about how great Notre Dame football was as if they were on the damned team. I called them on their bullshit and changed tables. Have hated Notre Dame ever since.
