Cypress Hill is coming out with their first album in 8 years called Elephants on Acid available September 28th. For those of us who grew up in the 90's, Cypress Hill had some great hits. There debut track from the new album is Band of Gypsies which is now available on video via YouTube.

I like the rap and the unique Arabian sounding beat but the Arabian vocals I can do without in Band of Gypsies. The rap is very good in this new track.

What you guys think?

my original post (attempt) was about how over the years I've grown to see cypress hill as something Laurence "SHAKE THAT" Holmes would bump in his dorms on early Saturday mornings, most likely because it was "appropriate" music for that kind of social situation.

Idk if that technically ruined cypress hill for me cuz I was never one of those ppl like "OMFG WE'RE ABOUT TO SMOKE WEED WE NEED TO PUT ON CYPRESS HILL!!!!!" which admittedly was most of my exposure to their works. It always felt cheap-n-flimsy to play "hits from the bong" while you were hitting a bong, or whatever "I wanna get hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggghhh soooooo hiiiiiiiigggghhhh" is called when you were actually living out the words.

I was 13 when their debut came out, and of course I played the album probably like a thousand times, but the lyrical content is more for the kids. That said, it absolutely obliterates any hip hop album that’s come out since the turn of the century. There are still some timeless ones like Pigs, Real Estate, Phuncky Feel One, etc.

The first three albums are masterpieces from a production standpoint, cementing DJ Muggs as a Top 20 or Top 25 producer in the history of hip hop. The best one front-to-back might be Temples Of Boom. I’d love to see the show vinyl surface at some point.

Classic Rap artists putting out new albums is turning out the be the same as Classic Rock artists. 9-10 is just hollow and trying to recreate what they did 20 years ago...then there are exceptions (Raekown's albums are still good)
