I'm sympathetic with illegals driving to a job but there are a few problems- in Illinois, license and insurance. But even in a place like California where they can get licenses and insurance, they almost always hit and run.

Anyway, my point wasn't really about illegal immigrants per se. It was about accepting behavior from/having sympathy for one person that you never would from/for another.

I don't hate myself enough to sympathize with some goof who runs a red light and whacks me regardless of that person's situation.

Yea, I mean, I know it's not practical, but Ive had two family members become victims of hit and runs and both were seemingly illegal immigrants (obviously you dont KNOW, but both said a few words in spanish before taking off)

I've been in one. They didn't run but the insurance situation was just fucked. Came out an alley and just T-boned me. Insurance company couldn't find them so I was just out the $1k deductible. My poor Miata was never the same

I had a drunk guy who may have been in the country illegally total my parked car a couple of years ago. Surprisingly I felt no different about it than I have when anyone else has hit or crashed my car.

When you're 15 and in driving school they tell you driving is a privilege not a right. It's drilled into your head. "But I need a car to..." is no excuse.

So why illegals are just granted this privilege while going through none of the process everyone else does is bullshit. If the guy with a DUI can't drive then neither should they. And before you say "well he CHOSE to drink drunk", so too did the illegal to come into this country and just squat. There's gotta be limits.

$1000 is not an insignificant amount of money. I was most unhappy having to surrender it in an accident I was completely not at fault in.

If I were undocumented I'd never drive a car. Too many things can go way too wrong.

I had someone riding my ass the other night as I was getting on the expressway. Before he switched 3 lanes I noticed that he was missing his side mirror and probably wasn't 21. No chance that kid had insurance.

No mirrors is terrifying. Rear view doesn't matter but not having side mirrors is wildly dangerous.

I think we talked about this before. I felt differently since I knew I wasn't gonna get my money back. Guy had no insurance--why should he play by the rules?--and I was out two grand. (Fortunately, the car wasn't totaled, and the guy who hit me was not drunk.)

I told the cops that the guy was obviously not a citizen, since he refused to let me see his drivers license (when sharing info), could barely speak English, and had no insurance, and the ball-less cops tried to play it down. "Oh, he was probably too nervous about the accident to show you his license." So now we are lying for people....that's weird behavior.

Just left a really bad taste in my mouth.

We should give the illegal permanent residency status in this case for taking out one of the annoying bikers. That elderly illegal is a fucking hero. Bikes do not belong in lanes meant for cars.

Well, I don't know how else you would describe it. The vast majority of what we call "accidents" aren't accidents at all. They're the result of someone purposely driving like a jagoff. It's terrible when you're in another automobile. When you're on a bike it's seriously life threatening.

Because you know that people like Ogie and Panther aren't going to give you three feet. They probably don't even know the laws. And even if they do, they don't give a fuck. They think the road belongs to them and their SUV.
