Rumors are true. Picard is back.

https://variety.com/2018/tv/news/star-trek-patrick-stewart-picard-cbs-all-access-1202895410/

I thought for sure they would do it as an animated series. I'm glad they didn't.

That said, I think this show is destined to be awful. I don't trust the writers or concept of an 80-year old Picard. Hope I'm wrong because he's a tremendous character.

Never been a star trek fan. But it seems like it's getting murdered by Star Wars. I guess this is good for the over 40/50 crowd but how will it get those young teeny/20s star wars fans into seeing star trek?

Ugh. I forgot about B4.

I kind of want to remember the TNG future as it was in All Good Things...despite the Picard dementia. Wasn't a good deal for him.

But, future Data was awesome with his distinguished streak of grey.

I would love to see Geordi as captain of his own ship as well.

Space dad is coming home! I wonder if they're gonna grimdark the deal like they did with the films + discovery. Picard became an action hero in the movies and that's generally the idea with what I saw of discovery (the first 8-9 episodes anyways)

I wonder if they'll gloss over worf being on DS9 like they did in the movies... Hell I wonder if they'll make any references to the ascended sisko or admiral Janeway? How long before an obligatory "the Borg once assimilated me" reference? There's so many questions to ask because we actually care about these characters/stories

This is probably just fan service for all the old/er-school Trekkies who thought discovery wasn't proper star trek... Now they're literally getting Picard back up and running so they better open up their hearts + wallets in no particular order.

The only series that occurs in all the timelines is Enterprise

I am open to this idea as we need a Star Trek show that gives us a view of the Federation post-Dominion War.

Enterprise, the TOS Reboot movies, and Discovery are all going back to the 23rd century. I want to see a late 24th century Federation. What happens with the Alpha Quadrant after the war? Can we retcon Nemesis while we are at it too?

Seasons 1 and 2 are iffy, but 3 and 4 are great.

Great series except for the finale, total b.s. cop-out.

I hope the new series continues its tradition of the loudest theme song in television history.

I will be very disappointed if this show doesn't have the Jerry Goldsmith main title

I would also love to see an occasional cameo from a TNG character, but for God's sake no fucking Wesley Crusher, unless they are killing him off in that episode.

It would be nice to see LaForge and Riker drop in though.

I guess Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth pulled out of Star Trek 4. Unless they go in another direction of a different cast, I am not too thrilled about this. Pine/Greenwood were pretty much the franchise for me.

This is what I meant about using only a handful of actors in every verse.
Look at Pine. He has been attached to Trek,DC comics,Jack Ryan plus 2-3 TV series. Even back in the 90s you really would not have someone crossing over that much but also carrying franchises. By using the same small pool of actors they are giving these people both too much power and limiting the "flavor" of the entertainment experience. Plus, what I would really like if they are going to do a time travel/mess with the stuff is about 30 minutes in have this guy pop up and say:
Image
Would you please stop making time all wibbly wobbly. Then a credit roll.
