Over the years Bernsie has been about pedigree, meaning how a guy was perceived coming out of high school and how high he was drafted into pro leagues. And while pedigree guys have a much better chance of turning into stars, there are plenty of examples of low prospects turning into solid players. Piazza is in the Hall of Fame and was drafted in the 62nd Round.

I was in Pittsburgh a couple of weeks ago. In the seventh inning four small black helicopters buzzed the stadium (not a flyby, very low flying just above the roof line), the were trailed by two bigger camoflague attack helicopters. Everyone cheered like it was planned. They continued to buzz around for the next hour and people got worried. I saw later they were training. They picked a strange time.
