Good. We agree. I don't want that over rated Addy-kins. Fuckin' TIMMMAAAAY is a better shortstop

Lol. So overrated that you dug 3 clicks into the stats to finally have timmmay ranked higher. Addy has been a disappointment, not as bad as Tim though.

The first stat literally rates Anderson 5.5 compared to addy 5.4. They aren’t far apart either way.

Also addy is year to year while you have Anderson signed 4 more years and 20 million. I don’t expect either to be in Chicago for the 2020 season.

Time will tell. Timmy is young in baseball years. Didn't play organized ball until junior year in HS. The same path as Lorenzo Cain. Took 5 years and age 28 to hit his stride

He drove in 95 at 22 years old and hit 22 homers.. He's a good glove, better than Anderson( I don't give a fuck what the number nerds say..he is)

That bum Beckham been in the league 10 years and 16- 60 was his best year... Bad comp turf..real bad.

Nope I'm still here and will have to repeat, His 5th year in MLB at age 28. For fucksake, he wasn't even an everyday player until he was 27. 99% of these guys have been playing baseball since they were in diapers. So I'm going to comp Cain at age 24 and Anderson at age 24. I'm also going to comp them at age 16 when they didn't know the difference between a softball and a baseball. Addyboy is at his ceiling. Tim's still crawling on the floor. He's been nothing short of spectacular for 2 months at his position. The light bulb came on for him defensively and in a couple years it will come on in his bat also.

I agree with Anderson being an all around good family man while Russell being a piece of shit being the deciding factor

That fact also gives me hope that he will become a good ballplayrr one day. Even MLB can't keep a good man down.

He also benefits from being the only SS in the entire org other than Lenyn Sosa worth caring about. No Nick Madrigal breathing down Tim Anderson's neck.

Russell isn’t the same defender he was a few years ago. Sometimes the personal stuff does impact the play on the field. Defense has transitioned from top 5 to middle of the pack.

The bacon comp was referring to the early success and then never continued to improve. Addy hit 22 home runs with a bad obp and batting average. Bacons rookie year slashed higher than any Russell year so far. Bacon was also a good fielder.

I agree with you on Addy glove gotten worse, he also lost his power..both should return. Beckham played 2nd..he didn't have the range for SS

And since he plays short, he will be a 10 year starter. Just doubting he has the contact skills to be what we hoped.

Well, this is ubiquitous throughout modern baseball- take, take, take until you are in a bad count. Players are now loathe to hammer the first pitch which allows pitchers a lot of liberty to get ahead in the count. But I do believe I read somewhere that Moncada has been rung up looking this year on an inordinate amount of pitches that were actually out of the zone. The first thing Moncada should do is abandon batting right-handed. He has no power and he doesn't get on base batting righty.

Not a chance. The writing is already on the wall that Baez is going to be your regular shortstop.

I saw David Freese swing at a 3-1 pitch last night, and I was surprised. It is to the point where hitters don't even swing in favorable counts. The spread between Happ's BA and OB is amazing every time I see it.

Yeah they can't keep them all and they will move Addy one way or another before next July 31.

Yeah Dennis baseball is very different than just a decade ago. Think Frank Thomas approach being considered dumb. I guess smarter guys than I supposedly have it all figured out with the numbers but I am having a hard time digesting some of it.

Boy I was wishing I was at PNC last night with all those Cubs fans at the park and Lester dealing.

I went back and looked at Big Frank's numbers. He had some sick OBP years. BTW, I was at his jersey retirement game and have the little statue thing in my office from it. Always loved watching Big Frank. Ironically, my son is called Big Frank, but he was named after my grandfather.

There are things about the current dogma that bothers me. I've seen the impact of launch angle as we worked Rapsodo machines in the off season, and that stuff is real. But I hate to see so many swings and misses. The game evolves, and I still love it.

I said above I think both addy and Timmy are out of Chicago by 2020. But there is a starting mlb job for addy somewhere.

Addy confounds me. I have never viewed him as some great defender. Maybe it is the lack of flash. I loved how he seemed clutch a few years back. Right now he is just meh, and Baez is doing everything to earn that job. Another great catch and tag last night by Baez.

Timmy seems like there is a problem between the ears.

If Addison were a FA he would have several suitors asking him to be their starting SS.

He just isn't "OMG, Addy, the MVP" that every Cub prospect gets labeled with by fans and their "baseball expert" tv broadcast play by play man.

It appears he is not...or at least not a very good one. Also, at this point, he doesn't hit enough to be moved anywhere else. He had a decent stretch from about mid April to mid May, otherwise he has been dreadful at the plate for his entire career.

To be fair, he's come a long way this season as a fielder.
