That and science. Rising standard of living probably has something to do with it, too, since it seems to change us in subtle ways. But I've heard from survivors that yes, this killed their faith.

I support this. Recall that they saddled us with the Phil-Pitt Steagles during the Depression.

Look at this chuck wagon full of bullshit that “the hawk” is serving up in this paragraph.

You are the guy constantly running around these forums using isolated acts by extremist Muslims to attack and invalidate the whole religion. You have no problem doing that consistently. However you do seem to have a problem when others do it against your stupid religion. If you took, the same stance towards the Catholic Church that you do against the Muslim religion, to be consistent you would have to advocate for the complete deportation and prohibition against all catholic priests. The irony is rich as it applies to the quoted above and all of your batshit posts about the Muslim faith as a whole.

Not for nothing, i’d Just guess off hand that the percentage of radical Muslims in the US is lower than the percentage of Catholic priests who have abused young children.

When I look at posts from “ the hawk” I look at acurarial tables and laugh.

If you actually read and digested what I stated, you would know that I detested the child abuse and the cover-up by the Vatican and US church leaders. So what you posted above IS A FUCKING LIE. ANd what I posted NEVER called vilified all Muslims in the world, only the fundamentalist Islamic pukes who are out to kill anyone who isn't Islamic. Those......I ENTIRELY CONDEMN as should you and any good person in this world.

It is YOU, bozo, who just called my Catholic religion a "STUPID RELIGION". I never called Islam a "stupid religion". Never. My faith is not a stupid religion. Jesus was wonderful and the religion that he created is a great one. That is my belief and you spitting on it is vile and illustrative of what a sorry human being that you are. It is the men and in some cases women that are ruining the faith itself, including this current pope that are in my view distorting and destroying what used to be called the Catholic faith.

By the way, bucko, maybe as the brain dead liberal that you are, you should examine the bedrocks of the Islamic faith when it comes to gential mutilation of young girls, the marrying of pre-pubescent children to old Muslim men, the limitation of Muslim women and their second class citizenship in most Muslim countries. Don't attack my religion, little one when the one you are defending is so filled with he most vile treatment of women and the young.

Also, there is no word in the English language as "ACURARIAL". Maybe you need to ask one of your iman friends if it is in his vocabulary?

Also, I have known many Roman Catholic priests, brothers, and nuns in my lifetime having gone to Catholic elementary, high school, and college. I know of no such abuse at any level. None. So fuck you for this notion of deporting or prohibiting ALL CATHOLIC PRIESTS. The great percentage of these people are wonderful people who have helped millions and millions of people live better lives and get to heaven.

I am picturing The Hawk as Seacrest on crack. No disrespect intended for either. Just the posting stylze at a given moment in time. Maybe better to use Bill Bixby in the internet version of the incredible hulk is more appropriate.

We held off on the consensus, hoping that a future poster could guide us into spinning it into some stupid Democrat/Republican issue.

As long as we're getting anecdotal, I've known a lot of priests and about 1 out of 10 are not creepy. That being said, I've known zero priests who ordered stonings, thrown people off roofs, or beheaded infidels.

Which one gets to say, "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry"?

I think I was about eight or nine when that show was on....at the end, when the lugubrious piano music started playing, I occasionally had to fight back the tears. (It was just so unfair.) The Dukes of Hazzard usually cheered me up, though.

I have a huge problem with the Catholic higher-ups. A HUGE problem. And I actually blame the higher ups more than the damned predator priests because it was THEY that didn't do anything about it. What I am saying is that anyone who is a sexual predator of young children, needs to be punished severely for it and to make sure that they do not have that opportunity to do it ever again. The Catholic church covered it up. The pope and the cardinals to me are culpable and it is THEY who have to take very significant action. What the pope said today was not enough. NOT NEARLY ENOUGH. Words matter but ACTIONS have to be taken and they need to be severe.

The Catholic church has to look way beyond this "forgiveness" aspect of our faith in terms of going forward as an entity. It is one thing to forgive a person's sins but another thing to merely think that forgiving a sin doesn't mean that the sinner isn't going to do it again. Too often I think the Catholic church believed in moving the problem around within the church and not address the real problem within it.

Personally I think that the church needs to prosecute its own. If an allegation of sexual abuse is deemed "reliable", the church itself should hold it own trial sort of like how the military works in a court martial hearing. And if the "offender" is found guilty, then that person should be off the priest rolls forever. Let God forgive him but the Church doesn't have to deal with him anymore. And then that ex-priest should NOT be given any protection by the church in any criminal prosecution.

Look the church should pretty well should be run like the military does with a code of conduct. Clearly it has not done anything close to it.

It has to be the Seacrest version. The Hulk version is already angry. And yes, Dukes had a great opening with a shot of the hot chick in a red bathing suit holding a gas can. She was outstanding.

Daisy had that effect on many a young lad.
