A little high? No. It's very high. 51 through 2. So we might only get 5 or 6 innings out of him today. Unless he can start getting some soft outs early.

Whatever. He's a little pumped today.

If he's great the Sale trade is a win even if Moncada sucks. But I'm not giving up on Moncada. Because we might have traded Sale for Sale. Only younger with more control.

51 thru 2 and youre thinking 6? No.

No kidding. He's sweating like a rapist. And it's only 75 degrees. Once again, it's probably just the fact that he's jacked up.

He sweats a lot naturally. He mentioned it in an interview.

Yup. Kid still has a 0.0 ERA. On pace to be the best pitcher in history.

Fucking figures.

Doesn't rain anywhere in Chicago except directly over Sox park. And for an hour. So everybody turns off the game. That's what I did.

Well, whatever the case, I can’t recall the last time I was this excited to watch a baseball game.

Awful. Opening Day is always an exciting game, even if the Sox are predicted to be terrible.

I think we saw enough from Kopech to see that he has the chance to be a really special pitcher. Sure he threw a lot of pitches, but clearly he was amped up and looked a lot more comfortable in the 2nd inning. The Twins catcher swung at a 97mph fastball that was right down the middle, and the hit was a bloop into LF. Straight fastball and guys could not even square it up. There is just enough movement on those to catch the end of the bat, or get in on the hands. Once he can perfect that and get his nasty breaking stuff over the plate, he will have games where he absolutely dominates the opposing lineup.

There was absolutely nothing to not like. Mechanically solid, worked quickly, had 3 A type pitches. More polished than I expected. Took a long time to throw the change, but when he did, it was a beauty. I guess his next start would be Sunday? I'll be there with bells on. The kid has got some kind of pitching charisma.

WOOOO!

He does have that Met pitching staff haircut. So... he might want to get rid of that.

You see when he had guys down he got all excited and ripped one way out of the zone. That shit got him into trouble in Charlotte but once he got over it he was dominant.

He's a headcase. You see it all the time with him. He plays angry. As long as he avoids the victim mentality that started to creep into Sales psyche it'll be fine. Other teams are going to hate him.
Doubly so other teams fans. He is going to be a Pierzynski-like figure.

My observations: Righties are going to have a tough time hitting him. His fastball seems to tail back towards them. He was willing to pitch inside at times, which is great. That one change up he threw at 91 was awesome. Great downward action and enough speed differential between his fastball to be effective. He doesn't finish all his pitches, and that caused him to leave a lot of pitches high or way out of the strike zone on the right handed box side of the plate.

Keyser, whatcha got for me?

Are you not aware of Sale's shoulder issues? His shoulder seems like it could be an ongoing issue for the foreseeable future. Took a couple years longer than expected, but it happened.

Yes, shoulder inflammation happened. Fact is anyone who predicted Sale's career to be derailed by injuries has been completely wrong so far.

Mark Prior had 'shoulder inflammation' too.

Best wishes to Chris Sale.

I predict that Chris Sale is going to die. It may take a couple years longer than expected but I am confident it will happen.

I may or may not have masturbated to the gif of that 91 mph change.

If you look back I was very worried about Sale's health. One of the reasons it was a good idea to trade him. His issues aren't going to get better.

Are you aware of how many days Chris Sale spent on the DL as a member of the White Sox? Are you aware of how many times Cubs fans "predicted" him to miss all of half of season due to injury and/or Tommy John surgery?

Clearly you are not.

The answer is not many to both questions.

But I don't think many considered his build and pitching mechanics to be considered 'durable.'
