Probably my dislike of boats/ships coming through, but it seems strange that of the millions of places to stay in the world, 5 of the "top 45" are cruise ships.

Haven't even looked yet and I know there will be least 50 Holocaust and/or Civil Rights memorials on this list.

I would rather all of these than cruise ships or anywhere in Detroit.

Some cruises are genuinely amazing. Ecological tours of the Galapagos and South Island. There is almost a 1:1 crewmember to passenger ratio so they are ridiculously expensive, but how cool would it be to basically relive being on the HMS Beagle (minus all the Cholera) with days of scuba diving, bird watching and exploring barely-charted Pacific atolls...that's pretty cool stuff. Again, it costs as much as a car to do a 2 week excursion like that but still.

Being shoved aboard the Symphony of the Seas like an Irish immigrant then just fed watered down booze and shitty reheated food is not a comparable experience.

Been to exactly two, but I saw nothing special in either Governor's Island, nor the water park in San Antonio.

i've been to Governer's Island, and while a nice place, it isn't even in the top 100 of NEW YORK's greatest places, let alone the world.
