Don’t see too many big league hitters swinging thru 2-0 fastballs and Candelario just did.

He’s over cooked a couple cb’s but he threw a beauty to K McCann.

He’s doing a great job of mixing in the cb the 2nd time thru the order. Using it to grab a 1st pitch strike and as a wipeout pitch. That's great to see.

They say it's a slider even though most of the time it looks like a curveball.

They kept throwing up 4 pitchers for people to vote on, which one was the most important pitch to be successful with. They had FB, CB, Slider, and a Change.

It’s a cb. If they can’t tell by the shape they should know by the speed. He was throwing it beteeen 79-83 (he over cooked on at 85). Michael Kopech is not throwing a 79-83 mph slider.

Stoney says it's a slider and pitch trax on fangraphs says it's a slider. I agree it doesn't look like a slider. Maybe it's what we used to call a slurve.

The general rule of thumb is a slider is 10 mph off the fastball and a curveball is 15 mph off. His fastball was 94-97 yesterday (you can do the math). Plus if Kopech was really throwing a slider it's safe to assume it would be a hard slider like Noah Syndergaard throws at 89-91 mph. This pitch is shorter and quicker than a traditional 12/6 or even 11/5 curveball so maybe that's where the confusion is coming from but there is absolutely no way in hell Michael Kopech is throwing a slider at 79-83 mph.

I'd love to see what grip he is using on that pitch. If he is using the traditional Steve Carlton grip, he's not releasing it the way sliders are released. He's slurving it.
