That's exactly why it's a problem. I have to do a lot of stuff quickly to make room for posting on here for half the day.

i dont understand the concept of putting $20 of gas in your car... if you cant afford to fill it up... you probably shouldnt be driving.

I guess the millions of people in this country living paycheck to paycheck should stop driving then.

MANY of you all must not spend a lot of time at gas stations. If there are enough pumps open I don't care if you grocery shop at a gas station. When there aren't pumps open Hank has the right solution.

Any chance this can be put on the state ballot as a referendum?

What if...at a 3/4 empty gas station, I start the pump and run in to grab coffee...usually making it back in time to catch my tank get full?

It is illegal to leave your car unattended while pumping gas. Frickin criminal.

Rick, you are missing an opportunity. Bring a bucket with you next time. When they run into the convenience store, you fill up the bucket on the pump they are not monitoring. Free gas for you!

My dad doesn't want to try and remember a PIN or his ZIP code. So I buy him $25 gift cards from Shell when Chase gives me 5% cash back at either grocery stores (buy them at Marianos) or gas stations. Works great, he knows how low his tank has to go to use up the whole $25, plus he likes that he saved $1 per tank. [We'll ignore the fact that he uses Shell instead of Costco so there goes the $1, because he's in his mid-80s and it makes him happy.]

You're also supposed to turn the car off during refueling but I don't do that either ... well not never ... maybe two or three times a year.

All this gas station protocall reminds me of the good, old days driving back home from Libertyville at 7AM in the morning and hoping for ANY kind of food to last me until I got home after my 12 hour night shift:

that's a funny take from the guy that ridiculed me for not wanting to unnecessarily wait 5 minutes watching assholes mix specialty drinks on those stupid Coke fountains a while back. Oh no! A five minute wait! All of sudden time is so VALUABLE to you. If you dont like waiting at the gas station find a bigger gas station with more pumps.

But driving on used tires with unknown history is really, really safe.

yeah i never do this either. for the longest time i drove a silverado that once you shut it off, when you started it again you couldn't just go right away, you had to wait about 30 seconds before it was ready to go. really. so i'd never shut it off at gas stations.
