i dont understand the concept of putting $20 of gas in your car... if you cant afford to fill it up... you probably shouldnt be driving.

i used to put 20 bucks in but when the auto pump started slowing down at the last dime, i just stopped pumping and left. i got no time for that.

It is illegal to leave your car unattended while pumping gas. Frickin criminal.

You're also supposed to turn the car off during refueling but I don't do that either ... well not never ... maybe two or three times a year.

yeah i never do this either. for the longest time i drove a silverado that once you shut it off, when you started it again you couldn't just go right away, you had to wait about 30 seconds before it was ready to go. really. so i'd never shut it off at gas stations.

Honestly it dawned on me one day that MANY people leave their car running during refueling during the winter ... it's not like the date on the calendar makes it any more or less dumb/dangerous/safe.

It never hurt the Tinymobile to leave it running, and she lived a good 15+ years.

According to this dude I know who is not a mechanic, that can really fuck your car up. It probably wont, but f it does, you'd feel like a schmuck

But driving on used tires with unknown history is really, really safe.

It's a reputable shop. I don't use them anymore, but never had any issues. Back then didn't always have the cash for a new tire until payday (wasnt upper middle back then)

Are you saying leaving the car on while pumping gas is ok? I truly don't know the real deal on that, as I indicated

I've always turned my car off when pumping gas. I think over the last 15+ years, I might have forgotten and pumped gas once or twice with the engine on. I'm still alive. But I guess it seems like such an easy thing to have the car off while pumping gas so even if there is a 0.000001% chance harm could come from it...why risk it? :D

Pretty common (at least with VWs) to trigger the check engine light by pumping gas with the engine on.

its pretty common for the check engine light to come on when you use your turn signals in a VW. or often times, it will jsut drop into limp mode for you.
