it tends to make all of this seem way more superficial. Nike is a scum bag company that regularly is clobbered for its poor human rights manufacturing culture. by the same people lauding this campaign.

I don't see how this works for Nike at all financially. you might say they don't care but there are tons of share holders who probably do.

my problem with kaepernicks protest is in his mixed message. supporting regimes on one hand who employed a police state to strengthen their regime, then on the other complaining about supposed police violence in the US. Its also a situation where the sitting president was already putting forth enormous investigative efforts into these accusations before the protest even began.

the idea of him being some sacrificial lamb to the cause is a huge stretch.

NFL chiming in to keep the controversy going!

“The National Football League believes in dialogue, understanding and unity. We embrace the role and responsibility of everyone involved with this game to promote meaningful, positive change in our communities. The social issues that Colin and other professional athletes have raised deserve our attention and action.”

Boycott back on!!

Just took off my Nike socks and still have my Nike shorts on. My wardrobe will continue to feature their fine athletic apparel.

That’s just it, the NFL is constantly in the headlines, and it’s not about former players killing themselves

Its not the NFL that is constantly in the headlines...its Trump that's constantly in the headlines. Without Trump this issue is dead. Nobody even cares. All these libs who froth at the mouth for their shitty quarterback are just being played hard by the president. Good luck getting them to admit it though. Most of them dont even realize what's happening and the ones that do dont even care anymore.

Feels trite to complain about concussions in football when everyone involved with football seems to not really give a shit. Especially with everything that's going on now. Just media hype. I dont think it will be too long before tackling as allowed again.

Being a tenant of the president makes him temper his criticism of you.

I was thinking it was a DNC piss-take...no one could be that stupid? But then maybe #Mustard and his self-mutilation explains how we ended up with Trump in the White House.

It seems like a curious decision to make the face of an ad campaign, a former QB who after a couple of promising seasons, fell off in his performance level to a point where he got benched and eventually was released. I doubt he will ever suit up in the NFL again, so this just seems an odd choice.

This is what happens when you can't be bothered to read anything past the headline. The quote from Elway was referring to the 2016-2017 offseason, when the Broncos wanted to trade for Kaepernick but demanded he take a paycut. It has nothing to do with his current situation or the 2017-2018 blackballing of Kaepernick and reveals Elway as a gigantic hypocrite given the fact that he was in quite a rush to pick Osweiler back up, a player who similarly spurned the team (a lot more explicitly and dramatically than Kaepernick no less).

I'm a white cis gendered male and you expect me to read past the headline? Good lord.

I dont care for the Pat Tillman response to this. I dont know what he would have thought of Kaepernick, but he specifically said he never wanted to be used as a political too.

I can't speak for all Army guys, especially dead ones, but the feeling would be close to most I think. Yes, you have a absolute right to do that. Yes, I wish you would choose something else. Yes, I would defend you from someone trying to take away your right.
