There is no doubt that the local ESPN 1000 bosses called Bristol to recommend Goffer for the national gig. So that's a good sign for him. Carmen should be scared. Why that dolt has been on the air for over a decade is beyond me.

Mac said he had to fly out to bristol to do it. Will Goff have to do that?

I heard the last 10-15 minutes of Goff's college football wrapup show when I was in the car last night. He sounded good. There was no excessive giggling, no console pounding, he didn't call anyone a racist, and he didn't attempt to out anyone. I don't know how the previous hour and 45 minutes went, but the part I heard was fine.

Jason is a better fit for XM, just as Spiegal would be a better fit on MLB Network Radio. Or he should go to New York or DC or Miami and beg to work as a producer for Bomani Jones or Dan LeBatard, who would sandpaper the rough edges and get him to understand when to be funny, when to stay serious, and how to really prepare.

Working with Bernstein was the worst thing that ever happened to him. If he really did realize that going in and felt he had no choice (because he had no agent to be the asshole with Mitch), then at least his instincts aren't shot to hell.

Long story short...Greenberg wrote a puff piece in defense of Goff. I found it shocking that he doesn’t have an agent..which is extremely stupid in the turbulent world of terrestrial radio.

Yeah you can say a lot about Jason but that he didn't care about show prep isn't one of them.

I always got the feeling that Goff watched more sports and consumed more media (Twitter and such) than any of the other hosts. It seemed like he was plugged into everything.

I thought Speigel wanted to do show prep but Goff did not (probably picking that up from B&B) and both had commented on the air as to why. Goff felt like it took the spontaneity and edge off, while Speigel wanted to do it so the show had more structure and direction. That seemed to be reflected in what I felt was Goff's meandering hosting style and his scintillating stories about dishwasher repair and ordering takeout food.

Am I confusing them with someone else?

So if Goff on 1000 would be the best sports radio show in the city, it's only natural to assume that Goff on nationally would be the best show in the country. He was right about Jimmy Butler, so it's on us to see what else he's right about (Spoiler: everything) to uphold the good name of quality sports radio! #ScoreGuysStickTogether

If you find yourself unsure about whether not you made the right decision in terms of choosing a Jason George Goff radio program, just imagine yourself sitting in traffic bumping the dulcet tones of JGG and envision spmack pulling up next to you and giving you "the nod" when he hears JGG emanating from your stereo. That should make you feel sufficiently cool/hip/with-it (*fingersnap*) because you chose well like Indiana Jones choosing a chalice .

Reading that Greenberg article was entertaining, but Goff sounds insufferable with the way he speaks. Like he thinks he is decades ahead of every single one of his contemporaries...he thinks he is the only one that "tells it like it is?" "If you rock with me, I'll rock with you." Depends what your definition of “show prep” is. Pretty sure both Goff and Speigel watched games and read stuff. I think Goff didn’t want to have pre-show meetings. He wanted organic conversations.

Does Goff talk about Bernstein? Have they talked since his firing?
