Harry Dean Stanton died last year. Wonder who they'll get to play North. Or is it a doc? Haven't looked.

ok, I guess I was scooped:

viewtopic.php?f=60&t=113838&p=3034863&hilit=mike+north+movie#p3034863

I'll be honest, I think they are going to try to roast him using the hug-a-balck, Chinaman, Bookie Priest, etc. stuff. I don't think he realizes it, but he is going to be attacked - big time.

Easy cast: Vince Vaughn all day.

"He's produced some big movies...Underdog..."

I love what Mike was until the last few years and I think there is a movie there

I think I agree with you. But the question is, how does the movie end. The general thought is that any move has three parts.

Part 1 - Mike North breaking into the business

Part 2 - Mike North at the top of the Chicago media pyramid, hanging with celebs, etc.

Part 3 - What's your third part?

If your third part is honest, you're looking at some kind of a quasi tragedy (in the literary sense) where North gets roped into a ponzi scam and suffers the ultimate humiliation both professionally and personally. I'm not sure that's the movie that Pappy wants to have made.

Will they be faithful to the source material?

Will they include "Hug a Black" day? "Steak and BJ" day? "Sombrero" day to celebrate Antonio Mora?

closing scene would be of mike sitting on a lawn chair on two empty lots on murphy lake

Seriously, I think it could be the downfall caused by his arrogance with a happy ending of the old crew all back together at Terry's last broadcast. Mike isn't sufficiently honest with himself to create that story.

Mike North still has plenty of dough.

To suggest that he is in bad shape right now would be way off.

not suggesting he is broke but that he self centeredness has lead him to isolation

Part 3 has to be Webio. Movie ends with him buying diapers for a producer who just lost his job.

Correct, but it also cannot suggest that he's livin' large, either.

Almost like GoodFella's....he is a regular (retired) snook, living in Huntley. Not loaded, not poor. I like the sitting in the lawn chair.

I'm sure North still has plenty of friends and isn't in isolation, but he's also not buying rounds for entire bars.
