Great finish. Had a small playoff feel to it.

They won despite the best efforts of Maddon. Christ, I can’t stand him. Reminds me of his pitching mismanagement in the WS.

He’s a fucking idiot when it comes to the bullpen.

No clue why Q was removed in the 7th.

2 outs and no one on in the 7th inning of a game that he was winning by 4 runs. Against a team that he has pitched really well against.

So before the game, Joe says there is a good chance that Morrow is done for the season. Jed was on with Mac and double chin today, and he said the Morrow could still pitch for them this season. Which is it? Looks like another guy that Theo/Jed didn't do their homework on this season. Their FA signings were a shit show this year.

Nice Win.

If they had Morrow, Id think they have a good shot at a deep playoff run. Too bad.

I like Cishek and Chavez. None of them are as dominant as a (rare) healthy Morrow.

Cishek has done it well before but Edwards is supposed to be the future. The future is now.

I used to think Edwards was destined to close but I've gotten away from that. Hope I'm wrong.

Great to salvage the last game, to leave Milwaukee with a 4 game lead. I like Strop and was glad it was left to him to close. Edwards has great stuff, but lacks command too often. The bomb by Schwarber was awesome and Javy getting things going with his base running was huge, Nice to see Murphy hitting again too and Zobrist was a big night. Credit to Quintana for coming up with a good effort when it was needed.

CJ has collapsed in a lot of big moments. he melts down and gets too emotional as well. strop has some antics but he's been money sometimes when he's called upon. i haven't really seen that from carl's jr.

He was great during the WS run. I think he was overused last year and it caught up with him in the playoffs. Strop just scares me.

no he wasn't. he had to be pulled in the final game because he was close to blowing it. at that time i wrote it off as him being young and put in a tough spot. but he keeps blowing it.

That was 1 game. He was put in that spot because he had been pitching well.

One game that would have decided the series. And since then he hasn’t made me feel good in big spots. Monday’s game is just the latest example.

CJ can be a closer today on a bad team with no pressure. He may be able to be a closer on a playoff team with lots of pressure. But he's not going to get to that latter point before he gets to free agency and the Cubs' current window is shut.

They need to trade him this winter to a second division team who can live with the meltdowns while he matures.

I was told that Cub fans did not perpetually consider CJ the closer of the future

Maybe they’ll get Kopech back . He seems like he can handle 1 inning per outing .

4 out of 5 just said that exact thing. So you were told right, I guess.

You had nothing to do with it. I was talking years ago when I thought that.

And Chet said he can be a closer on a bad team, not the best team in the National League.

Dont worry, Im sure you'll be right about something eventually. Moncada might be decent some day.

May want to rethink that placement of Chet, champ. "He may be able to be a closer on a playoff team" sounds distinctly like a guy who thinks he can be a closer of the future.

Then there is you who admits he thought he was a closer of the future until he didn't think it.

So its a Charlie Sheen tie

Except, we are clearly talking about the CUBS closer of the future, which neither I or Chet believe.

I never saw him closing for the Cubs. Too big market. That's more of a Sox type thing.
