I liked that he always looked like he was having fun . Not being so serious but just having fun.
He made me laugh as a kid and when I catch his movies now I still do,not that many do that.
One of my fav movies was breaking in,if you get a chance see it. My fave Butt scene is the one with Far Robenson when he tells him if he pushes off hard enough he might hit the pool.

I just watched what was his final movie a few weeks ago. It was kind of like "The Shootist" as the movie looks like a salute to the real Burt:

"Burt Reynolds was one of my heroes. He was a trailblazer. He showed the way to transition from being an athlete to being the highest paid actor, and he always inspired me. He also had a great sense of humor - check out his Tonight Show clips. My thoughts are with his family."

I heard on the radio that he turned down the role of Han Solo (at the urging of his agent) and dated Chris Evert. I may have heard the former at some point but do not remember the latter.

Both true . He also turned down terms of endearment and die hard.

He was the man when in his hey day. I remember when they were talking about making a sequel to Gone w/ The Wind he was going to be the lead guy who would play Clark Gable's role. He was the Clark Gable of his time.

Not sure whatever happened w/ him and Lonnie Anderson. She cheated on him or the other way around? Remember they use to show up all the time in the 80s. Then they just split. Wonder what she had to say today?

RIP.

He turned down playing James Bond as well after Connery quit. His excuse was Bond should not an American but Brit.

I also like much of Madonna's stuff. All the way up to Like a Prayer. After that she fell off.

I have a feeling all these "he turned down" roles I see popping up on the internet are a gross exaggeration. The truth is probably he was in a group considered for the role with a dozen other leading men.

Star Wars with him in a leading role would have sucked. He could have played a Lando part well.

Breaking In is a great movie. If you think Burt was a mediocre actor watching it will change your mind. Also starring Chicago's very own Casey Siemaszko.

There's no way he was going to be in Die Hard.

Was Dom DeLuise going to be Al?
