That murderer's row lineup has shot itself in the foot a lot this year but it goes back to pitching.

Would have helped if Les Lancaster knew the count.

They blew a 9 or 10 game lead in '77.

have they had more than a 5 game lead in the division this season? it seems like they've always been just a few games up with either the pirates, brewers, or cardinals nipping at the heels.

with the way the season's gone, i don't think it's a choke. it's just a sign that their team still needs pieces to put it together.

i think the largest lead was 5 like a week ago, or 5.5. they just shit the bed since then and the brewers been hot.

Should've traded for Shields weeks ago to avoid this. Probably would've been pretty cheap.

Is there some sort of contest going on to see who can be the top baseball 'tard? Only reason I can think of a thread like this being made.

I was a C-Section, so I usually go out the window.

You are obviously not reading the Bears threads. Cub fan angst is sunshine and blowjobs compared to that.

I don't seem to recall Leslie Gore singing 'sunshine and blowjobs'.

May have been Al talking about Tipper.

It would be slightly irritating, but really how can you complain that much? Three straight NLCS, a World Series win and another likely 90 win team whose biggest free agent signing didn't play much and Bryant sat about 50 games. Plus the "closer" played half the season.

I believe they were what John Denver wished for on his shoulders in the original version of the song

I'm surely not ready to say the Cubs will not win their division. They lead by 2 games and have the tie breaker in the division. That said, they should certainly win a spot in the playoffs, even if it's via a wild card berth and once the post-season begins, anything is possible. It is my preference that they retain the division crown, but making the playoffs in any manner gives them a chance at another title.

Spot-on analysis.
If you have a chance, could you tell us how the weather will be on the Mid-Atlantic coast this weekend?
