that's the point. Hamels gets that run and keeps it scoreless. Q gets that run but will have that Q inning.

Cole Hamels gave up one run over 5 innings, 3 hits and 2 walks in his Cubs debut.

Jose Quintana gave up one run over 5 innings, 4 hits and 2 walks in his start today.

Both were against the Pirates, so I'd say it's fair to compare the two starts.

You can't shit talk Quintana today while throwing praise at Hamels on August 1st.

Not really. Quintana isn’t good. This year is further proof.

We’ll also hear nothing about how Edwards saved his ass from a loss today but we alwayys here about the games he “‘should’ve “ won but for that pesky run support .

Plus every team Quintana’s on hates his guts so much they’d rather lose than score runs for him. Addison hates him so much he got picked off third in extras even though it wasn’t Q’s decision any more.

You may be right, but the dugout went nuts when Q singled in the second inning. it appeared they liked him a lot.

Once upon a time Quintana was the perfect #3 starter. But last season that just wore out, and it was evident from the very start of the year that he had lost his mojo.

Same .500 pitcher he's always been.

He's been a better road pitcher for some reason despite his downward trend the past couple of years.

If both teams make the playoffs and meet in round 1, he better pitch 2 / 5 games in the first round vs Mil.

He got the job done, last 5 starts against Milwaukee no home runs and 1.84 era. He will finish with a career high in wins this year ..coincedence? I say nay

He’s 20-12 with a 3.88 ERA and 1.24 WHIP as a Cub.

He was a better pitcher for the Sox.

Come on son, that one isn't even difficult to research.

Not surprisingly, your assumption would be wrong again.

This debate is weird now. I don't think he's been close to as good as he was with the Sox but he's 8 games over .500. With the Sox I thought he could be a borderline #1 and now I see as a #3 or #4 despite his record.

Like most non Aces, he sometimes pitches like a top guy and sometimes not. He's a GGTHITR.

Can't say that until the White Sox fail to make it to the playoffs with the prospects the Cubs gave up for Q.

So far it looks like a good trade at 20-12 and a big win last night. He is +8 in wins for the Cubs. Far from the .500 pitcher the Subdivision keeps trying to convince themselves he is.

The eye test and every stat except W/L says that he has been a far worse pitcher with the Cubs. He has pitched better the past 6 weeks or so but I don't have the same confidence in him.

Not every stat.

Lower whip, less hits given up per 9, more k's for the Cubs. Now some of that is due to getting away from the DH but they definitely dont say FAR WORSE.

In all but his first and last year with the Sox he's had a lower WHIP than he has with the Cubs this season. He's not going to pitch 200 innings and he's going to have the fewest Ks and most BB he's had in his career.

I agree and was not in favor of the trade. Just looking at the results like JORR would.

A factor to consider for me, is that Q has had great success against the Brewers last year and this season, when the Brewers were the Cubs closest competitor in the division.

This asshole is starting the biggest game of his career tomorrow.

he shit the bed against his old crappy Sox team last week.

Do we expect him to grow some cajones in the next 16 hours against the Brewers?

JORR - tell us what you expect from Q tomorrow. Most likely you will be correct.
