She was horrible on MNF. Too many times she was a couple seconds behind the play like she wasn't registering what was going on.

But let's be honest with ourselves. No real man wants to hear a woman do play by play. We come home after work and talk to our wife and children and at the end of the day when you want to relax and watch some sports you don't want to constantly hear a woman's voice. Stick to sideline reporting.

However you want to spin it, the male voice has become synonymous with most sporting events and when a woman is announcing it just doesn't seem right. Similar to how Mowins voice is synonymous with Illinois football. When you think about watching a football game, you think about it being announced by her. It would just be weird to have Kirk Herbstreit or someone like that talking about Illinois football.

Beth Mowins is awful, but she is still better than Suzyn Waldman. Low bar I know.

Mowins is doing Iowa-Indiana this week and I think I've figured it out: Mowins tries to replicate the tonal modulation of Broadcast School Voice, but doesn't have the low-end in her vocal harmonics to pull it off completely, and it comes off sounding like her sound is coming from inside a tin can.

Being female, her mids and highs are more pronounced, and trying to do the Golden Throat routine sounds completely fake and put on and, thus, offputting.
