There is room for three catchers. There is even room for Narvaez to see some DH/1b time if they are willing to get creative with lineups. God willing Moncada gets his shit together even a little bit you've got him at 2nd (switch), Collins taking a day or so a week behind the plate (left), Eloy in the of (right) and Abreu at 1st (right)...that's enough power from both sides of the plate for one lineup. What it needs is guys to get on base for it. Narvaez cant run well but whatever. Give me a guy with a .378 obp who cant run in front of Eloy Jimenez rather than a .300 obp guy who can fly.

Narvaez has just enough offense to be a decent hitter in his own right. If he played 1b instead of catcher he'd be tied with Cody Bellinger for 12th best OPS among first basemen (minimum 250 plate appearances). .800+ OPS plays anywhere comfortably. DH, left field, 1st...once past that mark you justify putting a player just about anywhere.

Having three catchers is ridiculous unless one of the three can hit for power and play another position. Narvaez is not that guy and is a weak defensive catcher. Very weak.

They had Narvaez taking ground balls at 3B the other day. It looked as bad as his catching.

Regarding Moncada...
But for those looking for something positive to focus on heading into the offseason, Moncada's numbers as the season has wound down have been significantly better than they were earlier in the summer. Following Tuesday night's loss to the Kansas City Royals, the second baseman is slashing .263/.333/.408 with 20 hits, six extra-base hits and 11 RBIs in his last 21 games. Additionally, he's racked up only 19 strikeouts during that span.
And, as a quick aside, Moncada has only committed five errors since the beginning of July. So that's five errors in a two-and-a-half-month span after he committed 13 in the season's first three months.

The positive I see is that he's gotten his head out of his ass. That's step one. I don't necessarily blame him for his lack of focus. He's succeeded extraordinarily everywhere he's been. I think it became a vicious circle with him. Taking his strike 3 calleds out to the field with him and his terrible fielding to to the batter's box. There's no chance I'm giving up on him, but there's also little chance he's a superstar in the making.

IF the Sox rebuild actually results in the team being a winning and contending team, Tim Anderson will NOT be a part of it. He is a 2nd rate hitter and too error prone to be a starting SS on a contending team.

Great insight....I can't believe there haven't been any Sox fans that have thought of this.

Taking your bad ABs out to the field with you is pretty common for a young player. I just like his stroke particularly from the left side. His stroke is pretty powerful for a guy his size and I think when he matures a bit more, I think his contact numbers will increase significantly and the power numbers will go along later as he learns to elevate.

Awesome! this leads me to believe that the Sox might be smart enough to realize that Narvaez needs to be in the lineup every single day. Catcher, DH, 3rd Base, left field. His Bat needs to be in the lineup 140-plus games

There's room for Narvaez. Until there's not. That's what a rebuild is all about. Is Narvaez truly a .361 OBP guy? Don't know. Play it out.

It tells you a lot about what a shitty team that the White Sox are that anyone considers Narvaez a guy who needs to be in the line-up for 140 plus games. Oh Wait, the guy was Frank. That figures, I guess.
